The Atlas Mavros with its new microporous PTFE provides approximately a 72% increase in signal velocity over ordinary cables, which introduces an unprecedented performance to audio cables. The Mavros speaker cable is available with spade connectors or with our unique Atlas Rhodium plated locking 4mm plug. The Rhodium plated plug holds the substantial cable at an appropriate angle and expands via a rotating knurled knob to lock the plug to the socket in order that the weight of the cable does not cause it to pull loose or slacken from the 4mm speaker socket. The conductors are crimped or cold welded to a ferrule which in turn is firmly held inside the plug by two grub screws.
Each speaker cable is provided with a serial number which is etched onto the plug. We can terminate your cable with Atlas's unique superb 24 Carat gold plated Z plugs designed to fit 4mm sockets on your amplifier and speakers. Z plugs are equivalent to banana plugs and will fit any equipment designed to take banana plugs.
The Atlas Z plug has stood the test of time. Using beryllium copper for the contact area, it's designed to make a 100% contact within the 4mm female socket. The body is made from 100% copper and they're cold welded under pressure in order to amalgamate the conductors to the plug in an air tight seal. The outer sleeve is finished in black coloured ABS or in a turned brass with a fine oven applied powder coat finish. The Atlas Z plug is justifiably considered to be one of best 4mm plugs available. What You Should Know
All cables delete information, the Atlas cables delete least. Factors such as copper quality, that of the dielectrics and the plugs all have an important role to play. The basic design philosophy is the same with all Atlas speaker cables, from the entry level Basic 1.25 to the top of the range Ichor and Mavros cables. The differences between them are in the purity of the Oxygen Free Copper (OFC) or the Ohno Continuous Cast (OCC) copper, the quality of the plugs or spades, through to the number and type of conductors and the way the strands are laid or woven into conductors, and the insulation or dielectrics used. The Atlas Equator, Hyper and Ascent speaker cables can be purchased in different sizes. That's because the larger conductors have a lower resistance to low frequency signals and may provide more bass. In Atlas bi wired cables, the high frequencies are carried over a solid conductor. A solid conductor has a greater occupation area for the HF signal hence improved HF information.

What is OCC Copper
In 1985 Professor Ohno from the China Institute of Technology developed his patented method for the extrusion of a grain free copper wire. (Technical papers are available from the Japan Inst. Metals and from Chapman & Hall, publishers.)
When a pure metal solidifies, its crystals grow in a specific geometrical pattern (typical to that metal) emanating from a nucleus, rather like the dendritic growth pattern of a tree. The size of the metal crystals grown can be varied by repeatedly annealing metal such as is done in the LC-OFC process. The structure of a strand of copper may be likened to that of a bag of sugar. Every grain of sugar has a crystal boundary. In a conductor, these crystal boundaries (potential barriers) act as a non-linear resistance to the flow of electric current. It follows that, the fewer the boundaries, the less the effect on an electric signal as it propagates from one end of the conductor to the other.
