Limited Time Only, Buy Two Jitterbugs, Receive One Free!

AudioQuest’s new dual-function JitterBug is a USB line (VBUS) and signal (data) filter. JitterBug follows the footsteps of their award-winning, category-defining DragonFly USB DAC, and their best-in-class, USB, Ethernet, FireWire and Thunderbolt digital interconnects, promising the next step forward in high-performance computeraudio playback.

While USB (along with Ethernet) has become one of the two most important and widely adopted interfaces in the age of computer audio, it does come with its own unique sets of liabilities mainly sound-degrading noise currents. All computing devices, whether they be laptops, phones, NAS or even dedicated “music servers,” inherently generate a significant amount of noise and parasitic resonances. In addition to this, many computers (the least offensive being laptops, as they are required to meet rigorous safety standards) can and often do contribute a considerable amount or RFI and EMI pollution onto the signal paths all of which can easily find its way onto your USB cables and into your audio system. This noise and interference has many negative effects. Noise-compromised digital circuitry increases jitter (dispersion in time) and packet errors, resulting in distortion that causes a comparatively flat and irritating sound. Noisecompromised analog circuitry also damages the sound’s depth, warmth, and resolution. Fortunately, AudioQuest has devised a solution for dealing with these liabilities. JitterBug’s dual-circuitry measurably reduces unwanted noise currents and parasitic resonances. It also reduces jitter and packet errors (in some cases, packet errors are completely eliminated.) The result is clearer, more compelling sound, music, and dialogue a better audio experience.

Slightly smaller than our DragonFly USB DAC, and with a handsome, unassuming appearance, JitterBug has a USB (male) plug on one end and a USB (female) port on the opposite. For those who already own DragonFly, JitterBug will be a fun and affordable upgrade: Simply plug JitterBug into any one of a computer’s available USB ports, then plug DragonFly into JitterBug’s USB port. But JitterBug is far more than an obvious partner for DragonFly. In fact, its versatility may very well match that of the USB standard itself: JitterBug can be successfully used with external USB DACs ranging from the very modest to the absolute state of the art. Simply plug JitterBug into an available USB port, and use a USB cable to connect JitterBug to the DAC of choice.

Many computers include more than one USB port. For additional improvement to a system’s overall sound, a second JitterBug can be used in parallel (but not in series) with the first. The improvement is audible through the active audio port, whether or not the second JitterBug fills an empty USB port, or is used in series with some other peripheral, such as a printer. Note: We recommend no more than two JitterBug filters per USB bus. If you do not know how many USB buses exist on a given device, err on the side of caution: Presume that there is a single bus and use no more than two JitterBugs.

JitterBug can also be used with mobile phones, portable media devices, USB peripherals, and network storage/streaming devices. Many receivers, DACs, and automobiles include USB input ports that are compatible with iOS and Android devices, enabling music lovers to use their mobile phones or USB memory sticks as audio sources. By first plugging a JitterBug into the associated USB input port, the playback performance of such media devices can be significantly improved. In cases where a noisy external computer peripheral (such as a printer, camera, or hard drive) must be connected to a computer-audio system, JitterBug can be used in series with the peripheral device. Similarly, streamers, Network Attached Storage devices, and routers may all include USB ports, and all can benefit from JitterBug’s noise filtering again, regardless of whether the associated port has a device connected to it.

Simply put, JitterBug’s dual-circuitry measurably reduces the noise and ringing that plague both the data and power lines of USB ports. As with many things in audio, the effect of JitterBug on the overall sound of a system may vary slightly, depending on the associated gear and application. Experimentation is enthusiastically encouraged. The results will likely prove more than worth the effort.

Accessory of the year - Joint winner:

"One of the cheapest audio gizmos in a long time, the £39 JitterBug is ostensibly a USB filter that works in series or in parallel. The little AudioQuest box is proving absurdly popular among people who use computers in audio, which is - let's face it - almost all of us. Whether handing off the end of a network storage drive or in line between your PC and your DAC, the results speak for themselves - more authoritative, better controlled, and more natural sounding music and voices. The effects are cumulative, so many people who start with one end up with as many JitterBugs as will fit in every spare USB socket." HiFi+ (131) - January Awards 2016.

First impression: OK. My AIO Computer must have a very good card because I did not find big improvement listening through Dragonfly RED (with and without AQ Jitterbug) or without (connected directly through AQ Big Sure to my PrimaLuna dialogue Premium HP integrated amp with KT 150 output tubes. Both sound nice and strong. It is first day so I expect cabel and dragonfly and jitterbug to burn in after some time. Service from guys from futureshop is First class !!!! Will buy again ! Will inform you in some time about progress.. Best regards from Croatia

Packaging- Very well sealed and comes with a manual book . The jitterbug is about 2 inch in length and talk about overmarketing!!, the whole box is like over hype and waste of space/material. First Impression - Plug it straight to my desktop connected to my usb hub to other audio application Noticeable reduction in dynamic range, high is slightly rolled off. More darker background, slightly space and separations for individual instruments, midrange has more warmth and more seduction, tighter bass for instruments. Burning for 20 hours - Highs are returning and cello strings/violins are more intimate. Midrange is more smoother and sweet.Dynamic range still a bit lacking but i will suspect it will get better after 50 hours burn. Value - For that price, i can say i was pretty satisfied with the improvement over cost ratio price. However, it cannot compared to high end usb regen for it's immediate improvement over the frequency spectrum.A good value if in a budget and in doubt.

I inserted JitterBug in between my computer and DAC and now my computer doesn’t see my DAC. I have added an active USB hub as adviced by Audioquest, hoping that it could repair the issue. Unluckily the DAC is always not seen by my Windows 10 based computer. Can you help me? My DAC is Hegel H11 Thank You very much Sincerely Giuseppe Caruso

Obviously this highly rated product does have compatibility issues in some circumstances, however the service I received from FutureShop was excellent. I am using the JitterBug with the Lindy 6 way mains conditioner for my Logitech G35 gaming headphones and the results are excellent, added warmth and resolution and the highs and lows are much cleaner. The two products complement each other very well. However if you combine the cost of the JitterBug and the Lindy you might be better off buying a better set of USB headphones. That's my 2 cents.

I took a punt on this based on reviews and from chatting to the future shop guys. Sadly this product did not work for me. Used it as laptop USB to jitterbug to Cinnamon cable to a pioneer external burner . The resulting sound was too intense and unnatural, reminded me of the loudness war style of mastering or should I say re-mastering. Used the Cinnamon on its own and the difference was incredible, a much clearer and naturally open sound. Had the same issue with an over intense and muddy sound when listening to itunes from the laptop with the headphones connected to the jitterbug.

I confess I was somewhat sceptical about the Jitterbug. As more and more of my music is saved on the hard drive of my laptop, I thought it worth considering. With an upgrade in cables running from the Jitterbug to my hi fi by way of a DAC, it has proved a revelation. Music is more open, clear and transparent with a nicely pronounced sound stage. This applies to all file types, from mp3 to FLAC. At the price, the Jitterbug is a little bargain that recommends itself.

This is the review of my second Jitterbug cos the first one was so good I bought another. I use a USB3 card and added the second Jitterbug to the adjacent socket to my Regen/Chord Hugo. Considering there's nothing directly using the second the sound improvement is very noticeable especially on high frequencies I'm finding them much more noticeable and distinct. Nothing overpowering either just perfect. Great product not to be missed and be sure to buy two. KM

The Audioquest Jitterbug is a superb product , especially at the price. I am using it from a PPA Studios USB3 card into a PPA USB cable and into my Uptone Regen and then into my Chord Hugo Dac. The Jitterbug and the Regen complement each other and the effect is very impressive. Both detail and bass are improved and hidden depths appear in music one has listened to for years. For the cost it is wonderful value and I guess it would still sell at 3 or 4 times the current price. It's right up there with the Regen which does cost 4 times the price. Highly recommended as is Futureshop's service and efficiency.
