What is it?

The name speaks for itself. The Chord iCHORD has been developed to enable improved sound quality from computer sounds cards to home theatre systems as well as to allow iPOD owning hi-fi enthusiasts to connect their MP3 player to their main system. The iCHORD features twin conductors and unlike the other analogue interconnect cables in the Chord range; the iCHORD uses a coaxial conductor configuration to carry the stereo signal. The reduced signal bandwidth of the coaxial conductors actually makes it particularly suited for carrying the compressed MP3 signal and the improvement in sound quality over the standard cable is astonishing.

The insulation around the conductors is low-density polyethylene and the outer jacket is built from white PVC. The PVC has a gloss finish to reduce marking.

Terminations

The iCHORD is available fitted with gold-plated stereo minijacks and can be supplied with the other end terminated with gold-plated RCA plugs, Din plugs or gold-plated stereo minijacks.

Uses

Any MP3 player or computer fitted with a minijack output or for that matter, any portable recorder or DAB radio that needs to be connected to a mains system.

How does it sound?

Compared to standard minijack to minijack cables, the superior conductors and improved shielding of the iCHORD produce a sound that is richer, fuller and considerably more detailed. The enormous number of iPOD owners looking to improve the sound quality of their player has meant that the iCHORD has become an important part of the Chord range.
