This QED Reference HDMI cable features a special band pass filter which reduces cable induced timing errors or jitter to an absolute minimum. To achieve a good cable design it is important to minimise jitter and prevent these timings errors reaching the TV.

The eye diagram was taken from a inferior cable and represents a million samples of a pseudo-random bit pattern measured at the TV end. For a cable to pass the HDMI High Speed test none of the data points must lie within the red mask area. Its is clear that the inferior cable exhibits large amounts of jitter.
