WHY USE OXYGEN FREE COPPER?
The QED One series cables uses oxygen free copper in all its interconnects and speaker cables. Oxygen free copper is produced in a way that virtually eliminates the oxygen content. Because there are fewer impurities in this type of copper it improves its conductivity.
WHY USE GOLD CONNECTORS?
In conditions under which most other metals either tarnish or corrode away, gold remains inert and extremely durable. So where resistance to tarnish or corrosion is essential, such as in plugs where tarnish can obscure a signal. It is import to either use gold, a gold alloy, or to plate gold onto a less noble metal. All this means is that the performance of gold electroplating remain essentially unaltered with time.
WHAT DOES SHIELDING DO?
The reason coaxial cable is used for carrying a wide variety of signals is its excellent shielding. In coaxial cable there are four components
1) The centre conductor which caries the signal
2) The dielectric which insulates the center conductor
3) The Shield, providing a ground connection to both ends of the cable
4) The outer jacket with insulates the shield.

The Shield in the cable acts by intercepting electromagnetic energy, generate by equipment and other cables, and conducting it to ground. This has the effect of preventing the energy from reaching the centre conductor where it can cause interference in the signal being sent. |
