This QED XT 40 2x3 meters cables I've ordered meets my requirements : balance tonal, transparancy satisfied neutrality details and sound image. Moreover this cable seems to be of an excellent reability, Thanks to spade plugs and banana plugs, assembled in Futureshop the contacts in one hand with my power amplifier and in second hand, with my speakers are really of excellent quality.
Of course, it is impossible to compare with others cables before purchasing on internet, but

Product Reviewed: QED XT40 Speaker Cable Submitted By: Vladimir Jancovic on 02/12/2016 Hello,
I wanted to upgrade my standard speaker cables and wanted something better for reasonable price.
I browsed a lot of cable dedicated websites but I found QED website most simple, transparent and explaining what I wanted to know. Also the reviews were good. Meanwhile I have found Future Shop a cable specialist right on QED pages. Few clicks and the order was done.
The cable is quite solid a easy to instal. But the most important was the sound - and it really sounds different. The sound is full, you can feel the lows which are very nice and smooth, mids are open and the highs are superb. Actually you can really hear the difference.
FYI: Im playing on stereo receiver Marantz 11S3, turntable marantz tt15S1 and Acoustic Energy Neo 3 (neodymium tweet sounds superb).
Finaly the service - easy to navigate, prompt answers, good prices - this is what I like and how it should be.

Product Reviewed: QED XT40 Speaker Cable Submitted By: Akis Papasavvas on 19/08/2016 Well, I’m shocked and that’s no mistake. To hear such an evenly presented sound from such a low priced set of speaker cables is pretty darned impressive. When you get cables in this price bracket you normally hear something missing or, on the other side of the coin, too much of one part of the sonic spectrum that overly dominates. Not here. The QED XT40 Speaker Cable have to be the most neutral and balanced cables in their price bracket. They let the music do the talking. 5 out of 5

It shows front-back sound-staging that was totally missing before (if that makes sense, the sound appears in between the speakers and not as point sources), and detail and layering is much improved. Product Reviewed: QED XT40 Speaker Cable Submitted By: Kevin Saldanha on 10/05/2016 _Beginning an upgrade journey, I decided to replace my long service Cable Talk 4.1 (a strong budget cable of its time). But I didn't want to spend too much.
_I was persuaded by the technology behind the QED XT40, and enthusiastic reviews by professional HiFi writers and actual product users.
_I chose FutureShop because they offer the cables terminated as per customer request, and free cable burn-in on a Nordost VIDAR cable conditioning machine, as customer specified (I chose 96hrs).
_Able to compare the XT40 to years of listening via Cable Talk, I find improved detail, separation, soundstage, sense of space. This is an open, neutral, balanced sounding cable. Definitely value for money.
_After 4 days burn-in at FutureShop, the product arrived the day after I received the despatch email.
_Very pleased with my first FutureShop purchase.

Product Reviewed: QED XT40 Speaker Cable Submitted By: STEVEN ELLIOTT on 07/05/2016 First of all, there's no point spending your money on a hifi set up if you don't buy the appropriate system cabling AND an appropriate mains current cleaner (an absolute essential to give your system the sound you seek as well as it stopping your system’s amp/CD-player components being put under constant strain trying to deal with the spikey, dirty mains signal current from the National Grid). Moreover, and this is one of the principal reasons I originally pursued my cable enquiries and eventually bought my cables from futureshop - they will burn-in (using Nordost) certain cables free-of-charge and that is a real plus – your cables arrive properly electrically conditioned before you use them – the Nordost burning is evident immediately in the developed sound when you first use them – you won’t get that anywhere else for FREE. Another futureshop plus was the assistance offered from the technician Adam (senior), top-notch : friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and honest – not trying to make you take something you don’t want or need but rather informing and satisfying fully your requirements in a very agreable manner (there’s also no Hifi-snobbery present which is rather welcoming in itself). The service is fast btw – sent to France faster than I’ve ever had anything sent from the UK before.
I will actually post a follow up review on the QED XT40 Speaker Cable when I get my new speakers (Focal Aria 948 floor standers) – top of their range – which will reveal what these cables can really do in the system I have. Till now, I’ve been using generic Monster cable and the comparison offered here in listening is compared to this basic upper-end-for-a-shop-cable (but also within the context of my previous more audiophile system and my easy familiarity with the recordings I know well).
First off, listening to the Beatles Japanese SHM stereo remaster CD of the ‘Rubber Soul’ album, all the instruments now have action and power and the energy in the vocals brings McCartney to life in ‘Day tripper’ – his vocal tones in rock songs require drive and punch and these cables deliver fantastically well. John Lennon’s plaintive tones are revealed endearingly in ‘Girl’, ‘In My Life’ and ‘Nowhere Man’ and separated distinctly from the guitar – a necessity on such simple songs if they are to be as intimate, enjoyable and moving as intended.
Sound stage : the full size of the sound stage is presented with energy – the bass power and mid-range are both dynamic, tight and warm. The impressive depth of the sound stage is matched by the width and height – background vocals are distinct, detailed and not lost in the mix. Instruments and vocals have air between them, very noticeable on the Japanese blu spec remastered CD of Bob Dylan’s’Hurricane’ from his Desire album. Dylan’s music is notoriously thrown into a studio and left to fend for itself. Dylan’s studio producers do their best to separate vocals and instruments in the face of Dylan’s cavalier recording attitude and here the cables reveal the producer’s efforts to present the recording on a large sound stage – these cables work their wonders creating this large sound stage and bringing the recording artist Dylan fully into view.
These cables keep the integrity of the source signal from the amp and present the music with all the detail, depth, warmth, action, speed and fun present in the original recording of the music they are entirely too good for the money spent. Great buy.
System details : Entry level range Marantz CD6005 CD player, accompanying PM6005 amp, The Copper-line Alpha Schuko Power-HUB 4 Way, Atlas Equator MKIII Integra 2 RCA to 2 RCA Audio Cables, and a pair of Yamaha generic bookshelf hifi speakers (6ohms, nominal input 50W, maximal output 110W) on Partington Dreadnought Broadside stands. 5 out of 5
Product Reviewed: QED XT40 Speaker Cable Submitted By: Ján Slávik on 07/04/2016 I'm not a big expert and couldn't imagine how much the speaker cables could influence the sound quality. These days full of marketing I was quite skeptic related to cables so I used standard retail cables bot singe and bi wiring with no major influence on listening quality.
Now I have to write "How I could live (or better listen) without those speaker cables in before?".
With QED XT40 my Castle Conway 3 speakers got totally new listening dimension.
Sound is so airy with full of details I haven't heard before. The big surprise was also that I have heard quite a lot of details also in before but now those details sound more like music, compact together. Even my wife noticed this difference.
I would encourage all skeptics like I was before that it is worth to do this still relatively low invest to have much more enjoyment from listening.
Although my first intention was to purchase different cables which were not available the futureshopstaff was very helpful and I'm very satisfied with recommended alternative. 4 out of 5

Product Reviewed: QED XT40 Speaker Cable Submitted By: Clive Richards on 01/03/2016 the cable itself is well made
the plugs are well made
the sound of the cable is still being compared and contrasted to previous and existing cables
the electrical connection is made using a bespoke crimping tool designed by QED the manufacturer this seems electrically sound when newly crimped
resistance tests have been undertaken and were acceptably low suitable for domestically available power amplifiers
the cable itself is a touch stiff and bulky
the cable and plugs are cosmetically pleasing
the mechanical support of the cable termination where it exits the plug is poor and not good enough for professional use as repeated plug / unplug would cause eventual fatigue failure of the joint due to the residual play.
A solution to this can be provided using a sequence of shrink sleeving applications (2 per plug to be precise) to the cable joint first with the plug outer cover removed then after externally with the outer cover fitted and secure. This makes the terminations far more durable. Or an airlock plug modification which uses a rubber clamp insert specifically sized for this cables outer diameter which eliminates the offending play. Too much reliance on the electrical connection with the mechanical strength being somewhat overlooked. 3 out of 5

Product Reviewed: QED XT40 Speaker Cable Submitted By: Mike Anderson on 06/11/2015 I bought this cable as it had won the What Hifi speaker cable award 2014.
I am delighted with the sound. I have a pair of open baffle speakers - rather larger than the average unit - which up till now have been supplied by extremely expensive but very old silver speaker cables. I found the sound from the old cables rather clinical - they originally drove a pair of SD acoustics speakers and the sound was much better.
Open baffles can be very demanding as they are unforgiving of any poor link in the audio chain, whether it be the recording or, in this case, the cables.
The QED cables are very much better, producing a wide sound stage, while preserving the speed and clarity which is characteristic of well- designed open baffles. The sound is warmer than that of the old cables and definitely non-fatiguing.
I think they have been a very good replacement and would recommend them to anyone who needs a high quality cable that doesn't break the bank. 5 out of 5

Product Reviewed: QED XT40 Speaker Cable Submitted By: Steve Eccles on 04/10/2015 Having had Snow track bi-wire cable for many years and recently replaced the components of my hi-fi system, I've been torn between keeping what I know about and have loved and replacing it with better cable, but not bi-wired.
The Snow track fits under the carpet between two carpet gripper tracks and is pretty flat. The new cable is more expensive, hopefully better quality, but bulkier.
I had a chat with a specialist at Futureshop and have bought the QED XT-40.
I've just finished laying it and am running it in and it's a bit early to say definitely that it's better, but it does sound good and bi-wire strap is screwed down (Kef R100's).
It is slightly bulkier cable and I've had to adapt my Atacama Mosecco speaker stands cable entry (made the original diameter bigger by 4mm and elongated by 7 mm, but I would recommend more.).
Cable quality looks good. The terminated metal AirLoc banana connectors are smart, solid and have a very positive fit in the amp and speaker terminals.
Delivery was excellent.
Verdict: Product and Service: Excellent
Would I use Futureshop again? Certainly. 5 out of 5

Product Reviewed: QED XT40 Speaker Cable Submitted By: Joseph Pons on 10/07/2015 Fantastic product. This is my first upgrade from standard OFC speaker cable, and to be honest I didn't believe it would make much of a difference, but wow was I wrong.
The sound is much more controlled; The bass is tighter, and the mids are much more pronounced and detailed, but the real difference was with the highs. Previously, they were overly bright/harsh, which only got worse as the volume was raised and more power was transmitted through the old cables. This, I think, is where the hollow core tech really shows itself. Highs are now incredibly detailed, and silky smooth. I also opted for 2x runs of cable to take advantage of bi-amping which I hadn't done previously, so this may have been icing on top. All in all, awesome cables. 5 out of 5

Product Reviewed: QED XT40 Speaker Cable Submitted By: Michael Brierley on 29/06/2015 My initial take on the XT40's was poor but a swift change of banana plugs, from Futureshop, made everything right, and VERY right. Tubular Bells 2 is my reference go to for all testing and the transparancy and detail was awesome to the point of drawing a tear from my eye. Instrumentation on all test albums delivered attack, well defined bass and a bigger sound stage than my previous cables. Whats still lacking is excellent mid range, but I'm very prepared to burn in the cables for much longer for that to arrive.
The advice from Futureshop was bang on and deliery to Ireland to all of about four days. I cant fault the service!
