We can burn-in your cable for up to 96 hours FREE of charge using our Nordost VIDAR cable burner. This is a £3000 machine that will optimise the performance of your cables from day one. This means the cables will be in optimum performance mode when you receive them, so you'll be able to make a performance assessment quickly rather than waiting 70 hours+ of usage. The result of conditioning cables with the Nordost VIDAR is, improved sound staging, increased detail, and an overall more musical presentation. Please Note: we are unable to burn-in cables with stripped bare ends or BFA-only plugs. (This does not apply to BFA/Banana plugs). Cables are burnt-in for the selected period AFTER your order has been processed. This service is offered at Future Shop's discretion and we cannot guarantee all burn-in requests are fully completed during busy periods.

'The Maestro MA2' has met with spectacular success in critical comparison between it and other interconnects which claim similar price/performance characteristics.

Ecosse The Maestro MA2 2 RCA to 2 RCA Audio Cable

Many cable companies ‘trickle down’ their cables ideas and attributes. Ecosse do too but they also do trickle up, as in the case of the Maestro MA2 Interconnect.

Ecosse Maestro Diagram

Whereby the astounding early success of the Conductor CA1 interconnect, putting Ecosse on the world map, demanded that they take the basic structure of the CA1 (copper analog) and turn it into an MA2. All they changed was the copper conductors from UHP-OFC to near perfect zero-crystalline-boundary Monocrystal™. Its success damn near blew them away-so astonishing in its across-the-board appeal has The Maestro MA2 Interconnect become.

Not surprising really when you consider the enviable construction quality and technically unsurpassed (at anything approaching its price point) conductor material that goes to make The Maestro.

Monocrystal™ for superior noise reduction

Not only is the 'going' and 'return' conductor multistrand ultra-pure grain-free proprietary Monocrystal™ Copper, (each single crystal of copper is a massive 1700m long, go figure!) but the tight double braiding of the latter offers-together with the addition screen of Conductive Polymer - 100% protection from environmental 'noise' pollution.

A ‘sandwich’ dielectric of superior quality low-loss Polyethylene and ultra low-loss, low-density, increased-air (best earth-bound dielectric) gas-foamed Polyethylene (FPE+) ensures absolutely minimal signal energy loss down its length.

Ecosse's unique Monocrystal™ copper contact points MACH2 RCA phono plug terminations, with proprietary shielding (designed to form a 'Faraday Cage'- a device designed to maximise RF screening), ensure the finest performance available anywhere.

If you are ready to upgrade your hi-fi or AV system to experience the audible benefits of Monocrystal™ technology, The Maestro MA2 is a necessity. The Maestro is not a cheap cable, but it may well be the least expensive upgrade you will ever make. Its ability to bring you ever closer to the music as the artist who performed it intended it to be heard - in terms of sound stage, clarity, detail, focus, high and low frequency extension and above all realism - is unparalleled at this price point!

Ecosse sincerely recommend you to match this cable with one of their Monocrystal™ 'speaker' cables. Thus, for the ultimate audio experience, try it with their MS2.3, MS2.4 or MS4.45 or MS4.7 pre-terminated biwire combination.

The Maestro - already a legend in audiophile circles!

To maintain continuity and optimum conductivity, their contact points are made from Monocrystal™ copper - same as the conductor wire itself. Both centre pin and the return conjugate bracket (designed to form a 'Faraday Cage'- a device for reducing RFI) terminals or shells are direct silver hard-plated. The plug casing is precision machined from highest quality copper alloy and is deep-plated. This thick casing offers further shielding - effectively a second 'Faraday Cage' - and reduces the ingress and radiation of EMI, ESI and RFI 'noise' even further, to virtually zero.

The interface of shells and casing is one of high mechanical impedance, dissipating energy and rendering microphonic effects negligible.

These shells are designed to perform a 5-fold function:

  • They provide a terminal to which the return/screen conductors can be firmly crimped and soldered.
  • They incorporate tiny teeth that grip the cable firmly and evenly around its circumference without compressing the cable and thereby maintain the cable's characteristic impedance right up to the solder joint.
  • When assembled, they form a Faraday cage, screening the signal right up to and including the RCA socket.
  • They form a union of high mechanical impedance with the outer casing, dissipating energy and therefore rendering the plug immune to the effects of microphony.
  • They firmly locate and clamp the centre pin's polypropylene dielectric, which, in conjunction with the outer casing, results in a strong, stable and extremely durable structure.

Free Cable Burn-In Service Option Using The Nordost Vidar Machine

Please Note: We are unable to burn-in cables with stripped bare ends or BFA plugs. Cables are burnt-in for the selected time period AFTER your order has been processed. Custom-length cables are burnt-in for the selected time period AFTER they have be terminated by the manufacturer or our engineers.

Our cable burn-in service is a non-chargeable service and is provided by Future Shop at its discretion. We will attempt to fulfil all burn-in requests for the specified time periods. However, during extremely busy periods, we regret we may not be able to meet demand for all requests due to the limited connections available on the Nordost Vidar cable conditioning machines.

We are pleased to offer a free cable burn-in service for this cable when purchased through Future Shop. The Nordost VIDAR cable burn-in machine combines three distinct functions all in one operation:

  • It neutralises charges that build up around the cables and the insulation
  • It provides a very wide band and deep conditioning into the conductor core, which produces changes in the way signals pass through the metal.
  • It ultrasonically conditions the surface of the conductors.

Nordost Vidar Burn-in Machine

The VIDAR uses a proprietary combination of composite and complex signals to condition the cables. Parts of the signal oscillate at ultra-low frequencies, while other parts are in ultra-high ranges which extend beyond the range of video frequencies. The signal bounces in a ping-ping ball-like fashion from one end of the cable to the other. During the burn-in process, ultra-low frequencies penetrate deep into the core of the cable. The ultra-high frequencies zip along the surface. This method of signal transmission is set up to beat harmonics, or heterodynes, between the two complex waveforms. In the digital domain, this would be referred to as aliasing products. These beat frequencies penetrate all layers of the cable.

The design of the circuitry also has a unique feature which drives electrons above the conductor into the dielectric (or insulation) area. The VIDAR not only sends ping pong signals along the cable, it also sends a similar signal from the centre core to the outer shield in the case of interconnect cables. This function neutralises the electrical charges discussed above.

So, what does that all mean to me?
The end result of conditioning cables with the Nordost VIDAR is improved sound staging, increased detail, and an overall more musical presentation.
