I was very sceptical about the difference this cable would make compared to my bog-standard Ethernet cable. I mean, how different could the digital data be?! Well, it seems that it is not just digital data flowing down an Ethernet cable. Cheaper cables will carry a ton of noise, which, when it arrives in a highly sensitive piece of audio equipment, will affect the sound.

The change this cable made was significant. The music came alive, with far better separation, cleaner, more powerful bass. Vocals were more natural. To say I was amazed was an understatement!

I've been testing different Ethernet cables recently, and the last meter before the renderer makes a shocking amount of difference, more than with USB.

Not sure why Audioquest doesn't sell the carbon as an off-the-shelf cable, as it has an excellent specification and performance that's close to Vodka at a fifth of the price sold by Future Shop, terminated with top-class plugs.

I replaced the stock LAN cable with an AudioQuest carbon cable; the effect is immediate. The soundstage is wider and taller, with an almost holographic sound effect. The background appears darker; some hidden notes are more visible against it.

Overall, more musical and clarity. I am impressed by the cable’s ability to improve sound and am convinced that a LAN cable would make a significant improvement to the sound system.

I was using the AQ Carbon HDMI cable to improve 4K TV picture and sound quality, but when I added the Audioquest Carbon LAN cable that I recently purchased to the network port, it was more effective than the AudioQuest Carbon HDMI cable in improving 4K TV sound and picture quality.

I am now replacing most of my AudioQuest Carbon LAN cables with AudioQuest Cinnamon.

When I replaced the Audioquest Cinnamon with Carbon, the sounds instantly improved by more than three levels. The sound is detailed and smooth. It is stable and reliable. However, it lacks brightness.

I tried out this cable to connect my music server (Innous Zen Mk3) to the pre-amp (NSC222), which resulted in immediate improvement on SQ (compared to the previous standard internet cable).

However, I have since swapped this out in favour of AQ Vodka cable - even better SQ, albeit much more expensive.

The Carbon cable now sits between my Wi-Fi booster and the Zen Mk3. However, I haven’t noticed any specific improvements (compared to the previous standard Cat7 cable).
