Breaking the electrical path with fibre
Network noise reaches a streamer two ways: down the data path and down the electrical one. Fibre addresses the second directly, because light carries no electrical connection at all. A pair of media converters with a fibre run between them leaves the router and the streamer galvanically separate.
ADOT build the converters, the fibre and the supporting parts to do that in a domestic system rather than a data centre, which mostly comes down to power supply quality and to making the kit small enough to sit behind a rack.
It is a targeted fix rather than a general upgrade, and it helps most in systems where the network is noisy or the run is long.

When a Melco Digital Music Library is connected to a USB-DAC, local stored music will play into the DAC and music selection and control is usually from a Tablet with an App such as Linn Kazoo. Additionally music can be selected and played directly from the front panel OLED and navigated with the Melco front panel buttons. This allows operation even without any network connection and the elimination of network comms improves sound quality. But it may be rather inconvenient to sit by the Melco within touching distance.

An alternative technology is to use a singlemode fibres, which use a much thinner fibre, and has reduced jitter by avoiding multiple path lengths. Normally only used for extreme length fibre infrastructure of many km, it is now possible to enjoy the benefits of singlemode fibres in an ADOT environment.

£233.32Ex. VATThe ADOT ASR-100 is an audiophile subnet router that creates a dedicated network for a hi-fi system, keeping streamers, music servers and control devices isolated from general home network traffic. Tuned specifically for music streaming and locally stored audio, it removes the network conflicts and configuration headaches that disturb listening. It can sit alongside an existing home network or run as a completely standalone, isolated system.
