The science of vibration control
Every component in a hi-fi system is affected by vibration from two directions at once. Airborne energy from the speakers reaches the equipment through the air and through the floor, and mechanical energy generated inside the equipment itself has to go somewhere.
Two approaches exist and they do different jobs. Isolation decouples a component from what it sits on, so vibration cannot travel between them. Coupling does the opposite, draining energy out of the component into a heavier structure. Speakers generally benefit from isolation from the floor, which breaks the room excitation loop and tightens bass. Turntables benefit most of all, since a stylus in a groove is a vibration sensor by design.
This is the category where the effect is most obvious to people who expected nothing. Putting isolation feet under a pair of standmount speakers changes the bass and the imaging in a way that is easy to demonstrate. Load ratings matter: the product has to be matched to the weight it carries or it will not work as designed. Tell us the component weights and we will specify the right size.
