Vacuum record cleaning without the usual price
Vacuum cleaning is the most effective way to clean a record, because it lifts the loosened dirt and fluid off the surface rather than pushing it around. The machines that do it have historically been expensive.
Record Doctor build the same principle at a fraction of the cost, under Pangea Audio. The entry machine uses a hand-turned platter and a single vacuum slot underneath. The step up is motorised and bi-directional, with a second slot on a swing arm above, so both sides clean at once and the record never needs reseating. Cleaning takes a couple of minutes.
The saving comes from a simpler build rather than a compromised one: fewer controls, a compact chassis, and the same vacuum motor throughout.
A goat hair brush and non-alcohol fluid are included. Natural bristles matter more than they sound: synthetic ones build static as they work, pulling dust back onto the record you have just cleaned.
Cleaning secondhand vinyl before first play protects the stylus as much as it improves the sound, so the machine pays for itself in cartridge life if you buy used records regularly.
