Hello I have a Yamaha a-s300 amp about 7 years old and some new Denton 85 speakers with a riga planar. What wires do I need? I bought banana cables but they seem to thick for my amp / don’t work
Both the Wharfdale Denton 85 and Yamaha A-S300 accept banana plugs.
What is the 64 Audio apex™ module and why is it important?
The apex™ (Air Pressure Exchange) module is a unique feature that relieves pneumatic pressure in your ear canal while wearing IEMs. This not only protects your hearing but also reduces fatigue during long listening sessions, all while maintaining excellent isolation. Different modules also offer variations in sound signature, giving you flexibility to tune your earphones to your preference.
How do tia™ drivers compare to traditional balanced armatures?
Unlike traditional closed balanced armatures, 64 Audio’s tia™ drivers are open and tubeless, eliminating unwanted resonances and distortion. This results in smoother treble, improved extension, and a more natural sound. The technology is one of the defining features that sets 64 Audio IEMs apart from competitors.
What’s the difference between 64 Audio custom IEMs and universal IEMs?
Custom IEMs (CIEMs) are moulded to fit your ears perfectly, offering maximum comfort and isolation. Universal IEMs use high-quality ear tips and are ready to wear without the need for impressions. At Future Shop, we specialise in the universal lineup, which includes the U4s, U12t, U18s, and Fourté models. Both options deliver the same 64 Audio sound quality, but customs are tailored for professional touring, while universals are more flexible for everyday use.
What is HDBaseT, and why is it used in professional AV setups?
HDBaseT sends HDMI, Ethernet, control, and power over a single CAT cable up to 100m, ideal for distributed systems and home cinema installations.
Do high-quality analogue interconnects make a noticeable difference?
Yes. Well-designed interconnects with quality materials and shielding can improve clarity, reduce noise, and deliver more natural sound reproduction.
Why is shielding important in analogue cables?
Shielding protects the signal from electromagnetic and radio frequency interference, ensuring your audio remains clean and free from hum or buzz.
Does power cable length or gauge matter?
Yes. Longer cables or high-current components benefit from thicker conductors (e.g., 2.5mm² or 12AWG) to maintain low resistance and voltage stability.
What’s the best order to upgrade my Hi‑Fi system?
Start with power (cables & distribution), then upgrade signal cabling, support (Hi-Fi Racks) and isolation accessories. These incremental changes can unlock more from your existing gear. Once you have the basic essentials, then you can look at further upgrades, such as fuses, cartridges, better isolation and more!
What is an HDMI splitter, matrix, or distribution amplifier?
These devices allow one or multiple HDMI sources to feed multiple displays. A splitter duplicates the signal, while a matrix switch lets you send different inputs to different screens.
How can I extend HDMI over long distances?
For distances over 10m, use active HDMI, HDBaseT extenders, or fibre HDMI cables. These maintain 4K/8K signal quality without loss.
How thick is each shelf and how long are the legs underneath the base unit? I need to calculate the overall height.
The shelves for the Evoque Eco 60-40 SE2 are 40mm thick , and the base feet are 75mm
Our new Apple 13inch MacBook Air M4 2025 has no HDMI port . Nevertheless we need a cable to supply TV material from the MacBook to our TV Sony Bravia Sony KDL 26T3000 . We look forward to hearing from you. Yours sincerely Laurie Stanley.
In order to connect the MacBook Air to an HDMI port on your TV you will need to buy Apples` USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter , which plugs into one of the Thunderbolt 4/USB-C ports . You can then connect an HDMI cable to the adapter to connect to your TV - we have a wide variety of HDMI cables available for that purpose
in 2010 purchased terminated Odyssey 4 speaker cables with Chord banana plugs (termination 2 to 4). Invoice No. 82641. Could you advise whether the plugs were soldered or crimped?
The Chord Odyssey 2 and Odyssey 4 (bi-wire) used soldered plugs as standard. Today's Chord cables' Ohmic plugs are crimped to the conductors. Currently, most Chord cables are offered with 'Gold-Plated' banana or spade; these connectors are still soldered, but a less common choice than Ohmic plugs or Elite Referance plugs.
