Atlas Hyper Achromatic Turntable Audio Cable

The Atlas Hyper Achromatic X RCA is designed to help you unlock the full potential of your vinyl system. Many turntables benefit from upgrades beyond their standard setup, and one of the most important factors in achieving high-quality playback is the cable linking your turntable to your amplifier or phono stage. The Hyper Achromatic X delivers exceptionally low noise performance, providing an immediate improvement in clarity and musical balance. This interconnect uses high-purity OCC (Ohno Continuous Casting) copper conductors combined with a PTFE dielectric and twin coax double-shielded OFC screen. The result is a cable that minimizes interference while ensuring precision in signal transfer. A dedicated earth tag is included, making it an ideal match for both moving magnet and moving coil phono cartridges. The payoff is a sound that feels richly detailed, with every nuance of your records faithfully presented. Finished in Eurobox packaging, the Achromatic X RCA is as practical as it is effective, giving your hi-fi system the upgrade it deserves. Whether you are refining an existing setup or building a vinyl system from the ground up, this cable offers a powerful step forward in audio performance.

Features:

  • Achromatic RCA Plugs
  • OCC Conductors
  • FEP Dielectric
  • Twin Co-ax Construction

Achromatic Plugs

Atlas’s expert electro-mechanical knowledge has led to the innovation of the next generation of RCA plugs. Known as the ‘Atlas Achromatic RCA plug’, Atlas has focused on improving both performance and appearance to create a higher performance starting point for their RCA cables as well as eliminating variability in performance. This has been achieved by refocusing on materials and the assembly processes.

Atlas has made 4 key changes with the Achromatic RCA plug. Firstly, the barrel of the Achromatic plug features a high stability ABS material. This is strong, stable and of superlative surface quality.

There is also an improvement to the Achromatic plug’s contact geometry, aiding the contact properties of the plug and the self-cleaning wiping action to ensure contacts are in optimal condition and to maximise signal transmission.

The third change Atlas made was around the rifling of the RCA pin. This improvement self-aligns the conductors during the cold weld processing, ensuring a superior stable connection.

Finally, there is a reduction in the overall mass of the RCA plug by 8% which has shown to improve signal transmission.

The above changes mean a solder-free, low mass, self-cleaning, recyclable RCA plug with a non-conductive body.

OCC Copper

The Ohno continuous casting method re-heats the extrusion as the molten copper is forced out of the mould and very slowly and gradually draws the grain or crystal down the conductor''s length, creating a ‘single crystal structure.’ Actually, because no copper is 100% pure, there will always be a few boundaries produced by impurities. The frequency of boundaries created are quite insignificant. A typical crystal in a copper conductor drawn to 0.3 mm diam. using the OCC process is 125.00 metres long! The benefits are obvious, with almost no crystal boundaries, the audio signal is no longer impeded down the copper wire and more information and detail is delivered faithfully to the receiving equipment. About Atlas Cables Made in United Kingdom

Atlas Cables are a major producer of interconnects and cables in the United Kingdom of Great Britain. All products are researched, developed and most are assembled in the Atlas purpose built factory in Scotland.

Many of these products are unique and use advanced techniques of production or manufacture in order to bring to the user the very finest quality products. With each new model we continue to push the boundaries of reliability and performance. It's little wonder then, that Atlas Cables have had so many mile-stone advances in the past and that Atlas Cables have secured so many awards in comparative tests against other products.

About Atlas Cables

Scottish cable maker that designs and builds its own conductors, connectors and cables rather than assembling bought-in parts.

Atlas researches, designs and produces its cables in Scotland, with a handful of exceptions. Many cable brands assemble off-the-shelf components, but Atlas specifies the conductors, insulation and terminations itself and tests the result in its own listening room. It offers a five-year guarantee on its cables.

The plugs are Atlas designs too

Atlas designs its own RCA plugs. The Achromatic and Ultra RCAs are built for low mass and high bandwidth, and the newer Metik connectors were developed for personal audio. Designing the connectors in house means Atlas is not limited to what an outside supplier already sells.

Three performance levels, with named ranges in each

The catalogue is arranged in three performance levels. Upgrade covers Element and Equator, Aspire covers Hyper and Ailsa, and High End covers Mavros, Arran, Eos and Zeno. You can choose the level that suits the rest of your system, then move up later without changing brand.

Custom options and a repair service

Atlas lists luxe and speaker termination options, so you can specify a cable to suit the equipment at each end. It also repairs, customises and upgrades its cables through a dedicated service, which means you can bring an older cable up to date instead of replacing it.

Why we stock Atlas

Atlas run pure copper conductors through most of the range rather than silver or silver plating. That gives a warmer, more forgiving balance than the silver-plated cables we sell. If your system is already leaning bright, Atlas is usually where we point you first. Hand-built in Scotland, and we have sold them since 2008.

Frequently Asked Questions

RCA cables carry unbalanced signals, while XLR cables carry balanced signals that reject noise and interference. XLR is preferred for longer runs and professional-grade audio systems.
Loading...
Yes. Longer cables can pick up interference and cause signal loss. Thicker conductors and proper shielding help maintain clarity over longer runs.
Loading...
Yes. Well-designed interconnects with quality materials and shielding can improve clarity, reduce noise, and deliver more natural sound reproduction.

Shielding protects the signal from electromagnetic and radio frequency interference, ensuring your audio remains clean and free from hum or buzz.

If you have a system which accepts both XLRs and RCAs, we would typically recommend using the XLR connections, as they offer a lower noise floor. However, if you system is pre-dominantly RCAs, then we would recommend sticking with RCAs throughout your system, rather than mixing and matching.
Loading...
Yes. Build quality, conductor material, shielding, and connector quality can influence noise levels, clarity, and overall tonal balance, especially in resolving systems.
Loading...
Use the shortest practical length to minimise signal loss and interference. Longer runs benefit from better shielding and low‑capacitance designs.
Loading...
Yes, but turntables require low‑capacitance phono cables designed for moving‑magnet or moving‑coil cartridges. Standard line‑level RCA cables are not always suitable.

XLR - XLR is a specific balanced 3 pin connection for use on suitably equipped system components ; it is generally considered to be of a higher quality compared to standard unbalanced RCA connections , especially over longer distances
