Atlas Mavros Grun USB Digital Audio Cable

With the growing popularity of streaming and digital music, there has been an explosion in the availability of high-performance digital audio converters (DACs). By using a high-quality USB cable you can vastly improve the quality of your music.

Atlas' Mavros Grun USB not only offers highly improved conductors and shielding, but it also adds Atlas' proprietary Grun connection for an excellent grounding solution to remove any unwanted noise and interference. The result of this is improved detail and clarity of your music.

When upgrading to the Mavros Grun, you will notice more of the original digital audio signal is retained, resulting in your DAC recreating a higher quality musical playback. The higher purity OCC copper improves conductivity for the audio signal being sent from your source to your DAC, while the Teflon dielectric prevents signal loss over the length of the cable. Tied in with Atlas' grun connections, any noise and interference that comes in contact with the cable will be ground away from the audio signal.

If you have invested in a high-end digital audio streaming setup, then this Atlas Mavros Grun USB cable can be one of the more dramatic changes to your system that really shows the true potential of digital audio.

Please Note: Atlas Grun USB Digital Audio Cables are supplied with 1 x Atlas Grun Grounding Cable- 1m length (Female Grun to Female Grun), and 1 x Atlas Grun Grounding Adapter - 0.3m (Male Grun to Spade). The supplied Grun cable connects to the Grun connectors of the Mavros USB Digital audio cable and the Grun adapter connects the cable to your equipments ground.

Here's what Atlas say about the Mavros Grun USB Digital Audio Cable

The Mavros Grun USB features OCC (Ohno continuous casting) copper data and power conductors combined with low loss foamed polyethylene dielectric, innovative screening around individual conductor pairs and gold-plated contacts. Atlas has also implemented their external Grun connection to route all interference to ground.

When designing the Mavros Atlas set out to Minimise reflective losses in high speed USB cables by improved termination methodology, higher purity conductors (OCC copper) and improved screening (Grun) leading to better consistency by length and improved fidelity. The Mavros Grun USB is at the pinnacle of what can be achieved with today’s materials and technology.

To ensure maximum available bandwidth is maintained through digital cabling numerous factors need to be controlled, Attenuation, Noise sources, Skin Effect, Dielectric loss, Intra pair skew, shielding and characteristic impedance. A combination of these elements add uncertainty into the digital domain, this uncertainty is called jitter and is the No 1 performance killer in digital audio systems.

Features :

  • OCC data and power conductors to improve system performance and consistency with length
  • Controlled Characteristic impedance variations to reduce internal data reflections
  • Control of the twist ratios within the cable and the accuracy of the intra pair lengths
  • Improved transmission properties by a combination of OCC copper conductors and dielectric matching (low loss foamed polyethylene)
  • Extensive screening around individual differential data pair and power/ground
  • External Grun connection to route all interference to ground
  • Gold plated contacts
  • Supplied with 1x Grun Adaptor 1:1 Female to Female Connectors + Spade Adaptor

Ohno Continuous Casting Copper (OCC Copper)

The Ohno continuous casting method re-heats the extrusion as the molten copper is forced out of the mould and very slowly and gradually draws the grain or crystal down the conductor''s length, creating a ‘single crystal structure.’ Actually, because no copper is 100% pure, there will always be a few boundaries produced by impurities. The frequency of boundaries created are quite insignificant. A typical crystal in a copper conductor drawn to 0.3 mm diam. using the OCC process is 125.00 metres long!

The benefits are obvious, with almost no crystal boundaries, the audio signal is no longer impeded down the copper wire and more information and detail is delivered faithfully to the receiving equipment.

Grun Coherent Earthing System

One of the biggest obstacles to achieving the performance levels equipment is capable of is noise. Low levels of RFI (radio frequency) and EMI (electro-magnetic interference) and noise on the signal ground all subtly modulate and degrade the overall noise levels of the system.

Ironically, this is generally only noticeable when eliminated – even though much of this ‘noise’ is theoretically at frequencies beyond the range of our hearing. The main sources are noise in the mains supply and component ground connections – mobile phones, ‘wallwart’ chargers and wifi networks are major offenders – while a percentage is actually generated within the equipment itself. Generally things have got worse with the advent of computer audio.

The Grun Coherent Earthing System addresses these issues by providing an ‘independent’ earth for users of Mavros and Asimi Ultra interconnects with the new Grun configuration.

Contact Enhancer Option

To ensure the best possible connection between your system, Future Shop recommends the DeoxIT Gold G-Series contact enhancer.

DeoxIT Gold is carefully applied to the plug contacts of your cable and is a unique conditioning solution designed to improve conductivity and provide long-lasting protection on gold, base metals and other precious metal contacts and connections. DeoxIT Gold penetrates plated surfaces, molecularly bonding to the base metals to seal and protect both surfaces.

The benefits of applying DeoxIT gold are:

  • Improved Conductivity
  • Maintained optimum signal quality
  • Reduced wear & abrasion
  • Prevents fretting/dendrite corrosion
  • Forms a protective anti-tarnishing coating
  • Stabilises connections between similar and dissimilar metals
  • Reduces arcing, RFI and intermittent connections

Please select this option from the above ‘Contact Enhancer’ drop-down menu and our engineers will apply the contact solution to your cable connectors prior to shipping.
