Conductor and metal choices come first
Solid conductors and metal quality are two of the ideas AudioQuest returns to across its range. HyperLitz, a conductor construction patented in 1988, is another. Directionality, the principle that a cable is built to carry signal in one direction, is the fourth.
Noise is treated as a separate design problem
AudioQuest lists its noise-dissipation technologies as ZERO-Tech, RF/ND-Tech and the Dielectric-Bias System, which was patented in 2004. They are applied alongside the conductor work rather than in place of it, and which ones a cable carries depends on the model and its price.
One brand across the whole system
AudioQuest also makes AC power cables, Niagara and PowerQuest power conditioners and DragonFly DACs alongside its analogue, digital and speaker cables. If you are building or upgrading a system, that means every cable in the chain, and the power feeding it, can come from one design approach.
Why we stock AudioQuest
We took AudioQuest on for HDMI. When the 1.4 spec arrived in 2009 they were the first supplier who could actually get the cables to us, at a point when almost nobody could. The power cables turned out to be just as good, and they are now a bigger part of what we sell than the HDMI ever was.

We use Royal Mail 1st Class services for our Standard Delivery.
Orders received before 4.30 pm Monday to Friday are usually dispatched the same day by FIRST CLASS post (unless premium postal or timed courier services are selected), subject to stock availability. This does not apply to custom-length cables and speaker cables as these require a longer timescale to terminate. This also excludes all cables selected for the burn-in service. Please note, we do not process orders on national holidays in the UK. Over 98% of our orders are delivered the next working day including Saturdays.

All items are fully insured and come with an invoice from Future Shop. We use the Royal Mail for delivery of small packages and DPD Local or DHL for items that weigh over 2KG. Items over 2KG are fully insured and will usually be delivered within 48 hours of placing your order subject to stock availability. For international orders, we use FedEx or DHL services where customers have selected this option.

As the description says, the plugs allow for cable up to 6mm. In fact, I would be a little concerned with thinner rather than thicker cables - I was fitting both conductors (for the amp end) on some Chord Epic Twin, and even with 5mm or so of strands, I found that the two grub screws needed to be tightened a long way - I was a bit concerned that I'd overdo it and they would drop inside the body. If I were using a thinner cable, I'd be tempted to strip back a longer length and double-up or triple-up on the end to increase the thickness.
The biggest issue I found is that these plugs are SO FIDDLY to fit! Two teeny-tiny screws hold the outer body to the main one, you need to remove them completely to slide the outer body off, and it would be very easy for them to ping onto the floor and get lost (AQ helpfully provide a pack of two spare screws and two spare grubscrews). Once the outer body is off, there are four further grub screws - two hold a plastic sheath that should be fitted around the conductor's insulation, and two clamps the cable to the inside of the plug body.
There's no need to remove any of these entirely, although it's helpful to undo them enough to ensure they don't protrude inside the body - it makes it easier to slide the cable in. However, it's quite easy to undo them a bit too much and... PING! Off they go to join the other (black) screws in the depths of the carpet, never to be seen again. Refitting them (if you manage to retrieve them) is awkward using the provided double-ended tool - the fit between tool and screw is not that tight, and it can easily drop off again during the refit. I would DEFINITELY recommend putting a nice fluffy cloth underneath your work area to capture any "mobile" screws. And cut your nails so you can grip them! Or use miniature pliers...
Once reassembled, the plugs feel sturdy and look attractive. It's just a bit of a shame that the construction uses such tiny components. By comparison, the Nakamichi banana plugs have two larger and easier-to-work-with grub screws to secure the cable and the (metal) outer body screws onto the main body rather than needing additional fixings, to my mind, is a simpler solution.
One final thing to note (I hadn't picked up on this from the photo) - two plugs have "Amp" printed on the outer body, and the other two have "Speaker". Not very helpful when you are only using them for one end of a pair of cables (as in my case, where I need them for the amp, while the speakers retain banana plugs). I'd have preferred nothing at all.
Overall I'd give these plugs 3 1/2 stars if possible - the fitting issues prevent me from scoring them higher.
