The Furutech Flux-C15 NCF is an in-line AC filter, inserted between a power cable and a component or distribution block rather than replacing anything in the chain. Furutech have built filters of this type since 2010, and the argument behind them is simple: what a system reproduces is shaped by the electricity arriving at it, and a modern household mains carries interference from the grid, from other appliances and increasingly from the system's own digital components feeding switching noise back onto the shared supply. An in-line filter blocks noise entering the component and also stops noise generated inside it spreading back out to everything else.

What separates the Flux-C15 from the flagship Flux-50 is its shape. It uses the CF-C15 NCF (R) slimline IEC, engineered specifically for direct connection to slim-profile video equipment including 4K and 8K televisions, where the depth behind the panel is measured in a couple of centimetres and a conventional IEC body simply will not fit. That opens up applications Furutech's earlier filters could not serve, and televisions are precisely the components most likely to be polluting a system's mains in the first place.

The connector itself is a three-layer construction: a housing machined from stainless alloy, a damping resin core, and a carbon fibre outer finish, with a cable clamp made from a heavy special metal chosen for its damping. Into the plug body goes NCF, Furutech's Nano Crystal Formula, which combines nano-sized crystalline particles that generate negative ions to eliminate static, ceramic particles and powdered carbon for piezo damping, with nylon and fibreglass forming a mechanically and electrically non-resonant body. The electrodes are high-conductivity pure copper, rhodium plated and then given Furutech's Alpha process.

Filtering is handled by the AC-1501R EMI-filtering IEC with rhodium-plated Alpha non-magnetic copper alloy conductors, built as a parallel circuit with an in-line coil and condenser. The published figures are specific rather than rhetorical: noise reduced by 10dB at 1MHz and by more than 30dB at 10MHz, the range where switch-mode supplies and digital processing do their worst. Furutech upgraded the internal coil and condenser in 2024, raising the attenuation another step, and the filter assembly also incorporates their passive GC-303 EMI filtering material and Neo Damper technology in the housing.

The cable between the two ends is a high-density Alpha OCC conductor with special audio grade PE insulation chosen to reduce capacitance, an Alpha conductor shield against radiated noise, and a RoHS-compliant audio grade flexible PVC sheath for vibration isolation. Furutech's patented Floating Field Damper earth and ground jumper system is included under US patent 6,669,491, along with a patent-pending metal cable clamp. The unit is rated at 15A on a 125V supply or 10A on 250V, so on UK mains the 10A figure applies, which suits source components, televisions and processors rather than large power amplifiers.

In 2010, Furutech developed an adaptor-type inline filter unit with a built-in filter, inserted between a power cable and an AC power tap or audio equipment. Combining thorough noise removal with countermeasures against the harmful vibration that enters via the power cable, it has delivered unprecedented clarity of sound through clean power supply with harmful noise and vibration blocked.

Then in 2016, the flagship model Flux-50 was renewed to NCF specification. Neo Damper Technology, using a special damping material, was adopted for the filter-side housing, making the existing damping performance stronger still. Furthermore, from 2024, an upgrade to the internal coil and condenser raised the noise attenuation characteristics another step.

And now, for the IEC plug side, the CF-C15 NCF (R) has been adopted, with the special material NCF compounded into the plug body as a countermeasure against static electricity, dramatically increasing the electrostatic effect.
