Furutech FT-786F XLR Female Chassis Socket - Rhodium
The Furutech FT-786F(R) is a female XLR socket for mounting in an equipment panel, the connector normally used for a balanced input on an amplifier, preamplifier or DAC. Its main conductor is Furutech’s α (Alpha) pure copper with rhodium plating, set in highly heat-resistant liquid crystal polymer, with a liquid crystal polymer end cover.
The matte black housing is nylon and fibreglass with Furutech’s piezo ceramic damping material, and Furutech build non-magnetic stainless steel plates into the damping compound. Wires are soldered to the contacts, and the socket measures 32.0 x 27.0mm with an overall height of 36.9mm.
This is a socket for equipment, not a plug for a cable: for the cable end, Furutech’s female XLR plugs such as the FP-602F Rhodium and CF-602F Rhodium are what you need. The matching male chassis socket is the Furutech FT-785M. The price on this page is for one socket.

The FT-786F features α (Alpha) pure copper conductor for minimal impedance set in a super heat resistant liquid crystal polymer resin and a nonresonant nylon/fiberglass housing containing Furutech’s Piezo Ceramic Damping Material. Unique to Furutech FT-786F and FT-785M XLR sockets are special nonmagnetic stainless steel plates that are incorporated into the piezo compound construction using a special Furutech patent-pending process. A cryogenic and demagnetising treatment
The Alpha Process combines cryogenic treatment with demagnetisation, and Furutech applies it to its alpha-treated pure copper. It sits alongside Ohno Continuous Cast single-crystal copper in the conductor line-up, so the Furutech catalogue includes more than one route to a pure copper conductor.
Copper, silver and hybrid conductors
Furutech's materials include silver-plated copper and copper-silver hybrids as well as OCC and alpha-treated copper. DUCC and PC-Triple C copper appear in some of its cables. This range of conductors means the same plug design can be paired with different cable types.
NCF material and interference absorption
Furutech describes its NCF, short for Nano Crystal Formula, as generating negative ions and converting thermal energy into far infrared energy. It also uses a material called GC-303 to absorb electromagnetic interference. These are Furutech's own descriptions of what the materials are designed to do.
