Furutech FT-866 NCF High End Performance Binding Posts - Rhodium - Pair
The Furutech FT-866 NCF is a chassis-mounted speaker binding post for loudspeaker and amplifier builders who want the connection at the back panel to be as carefully made as the cable plugged into it. This listing is for a pair: two binding posts, which covers the positive and negative terminals of one speaker or one amplifier channel. The contact pole is not machined from a solid bar. Furutech form it from a single length of rhodium-plated Alpha-OCC copper wire, wound into shape, which leaves far less metal in the signal path, keeps impedance low and makes the post less prone to picking up radio-frequency and magnetic interference.
The body is moulded from nylon and glass fibre mixed with Furutech's NCF damping compound, and the outer housing is a silver-plated carbon fibre sleeve over non-magnetic stainless steel under a hard clear coat, so the post damps vibration as well as insulating it. The posts accept bare wire up to 4.5mm across. Inside the speaker or amplifier, the post takes a 250-type female push-on connector rather than a soldered joint, and Furutech recommend their FT-210 pure copper disconnect terminals for that internal wiring.
Furutech also make the FT-816 and the Torque Guard FT-818 binding posts, which use solid Alpha pure copper conductors and connect inside the cabinet by solder or set screw. The FT-866 NCF differs in its wound-wire Alpha-OCC conductor, its NCF damping and its push-on internal connection, so check that it suits your cabinet wiring before ordering.

This special conductor allows for reduced metal mass in the binding post terminal pole construction resulting in minimal impedance and less susceptibility to the negative effects of RFI and magnetic fields. Also, the environmentally friendly construction process of the wound-wire conductor means less metal waste compared to conventional CNC, mold or pressing processes. The FT-866 NCF(R) fitted with Nylon / fiberglass with special “NCF” anti-resonance damping material housing.
Nano Crystal² Formula (NCF)
Incorporated into selected Furutech products, NCF features a special crystalline material that has two ‘active’ properties. First, it generates negative ions that eliminate static. Second, it converts thermal energy into far infrared. A cryogenic and demagnetising treatment
The Alpha Process combines cryogenic treatment with demagnetisation, and Furutech applies it to its alpha-treated pure copper. It sits alongside Ohno Continuous Cast single-crystal copper in the conductor line-up, so the Furutech catalogue includes more than one route to a pure copper conductor.
Copper, silver and hybrid conductors
Furutech's materials include silver-plated copper and copper-silver hybrids as well as OCC and alpha-treated copper. DUCC and PC-Triple C copper appear in some of its cables. This range of conductors means the same plug design can be paired with different cable types.
NCF material and interference absorption
Furutech describes its NCF, short for Nano Crystal Formula, as generating negative ions and converting thermal energy into far infrared energy. For items weighing over 2KG, a surcharge may be applied for all deliveries to the Channel Islands as well as Northern Ireland.
European Countries
Deliveries to EU member states are not subject to 20% VAT after December 31st 2020 and therefore the 20% VAT on items is automatically deducted when you log-in, register or proceed to place an order.
The customer will be liable for the VAT at the local VAT rate, duty on the import and the brokerage service fee if applicable. This may need to be paid in advance to your local Customs & Excise office or the delivery company before your order can be delivered.
We offer the following shipping services:
- Royal Mail First Class International Airmail Services - Items are usually delivered within 3 to 5 working days
- Royal Mail Standard International Mail Services - Items are usually delivered within 7-10 working days
- DHL Express International - Items are usually delivered within 24 to 48 hours. DHL orders must be received by 3:30pm for next day service to most destinations in Europe
- Federal Express International Priority - Items are usually delivered within 24 to 48 hours. FedEx orders must be received by 3.00pm for next day service to most destinations in Europe
- Federal Express International Economy - Item are usually delivered within 48 to 72 hours
We reserve the right to change your shipping method without notification if you select a method that we cannot use for your shipment (for instance, we cannot ship via postal services for items over 2 Kg to International destinations). If we need to change your shipping method, we will choose the least expensive shipping method for your order.
