Furutech HF-A-NCF ULTRA HIGH-SPEED HDMI 8K V2.1 CABLE
The Furutech HF-A-NCF is an active optical HDMI cable, which means the digital signal spends most of its journey as light rather than electricity. Photoelectric conversion chips inside the connectors turn the electrical HDMI signal into an optical one at the source end and back again at the display, and in between it travels down four glass fibres. That removes the fundamental limitation of copper HDMI, where 48Gbps signals degrade with distance and the cable acts as an antenna for interference along the way. It needs no external power and stays plug and play, and because fibre loses so little over distance, the same cable is offered from 1.5 metres all the way to 20.
The fibre is OM3 laser-optimised multimode, chosen over OM1 and OM2 for its higher transmission speed and wider bandwidth. It also bends to a 20mm diameter, which matters more than it sounds: routing HDMI through existing conduit or around the back of a wall-mounted display is often decided by how tightly the cable will turn. Furutech have deliberately held the overall diameter to 4.7mm to keep the cable light and flexible, and production takes place in an ISO 7 Class 10,000 dust-free facility, since fibre termination is intolerant of contamination.
The supported specification is complete for the current HDMI generation: 48Gbps bandwidth delivering 8K at 60p, 4K at 120p at 32.08Gbps, HDCP 1.4, 2.2 and 2.3, eARC and ARC, HDR10 and HDR10+, VRR across 60Hz to 240Hz, plus DSC, QMS, QFT and ALLM. The connectors are zinc and aluminium alloy with a textured finish to resist vibration, and the HDMI Type A contacts are given Furutech's two-step Alpha cryogenic and demagnetising process, then plated with a thick layer of low-magnetism gold.
Protection and damping run through the whole construction. Each twisted conductor carries double aluminium foil shielding against static and EMI, exceeding the stipulated crosstalk and noise specifications, and Kevlar synthetic fibre provides tensile strength against the pulling a cable takes during installation. The sheath is flexible PVC, passing UL/CL3 flame resistance testing and RoHS compliant, so the cable can be run in-wall where regulations require it. At the cable clamp sits NCF, Furutech's Nano Crystal Formula, which generates negative ions to eliminate static and converts thermal energy into far infrared, combined with nano-ceramic particles and carbon powder for piezoelectric damping.
One point differs by length and is worth understanding before ordering. The 5.0m, 7.5m, 10m, 15m and 20m versions have passed ATC 8K V2.1 approval testing and carry the HDMI 8K V2.1 Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable certification label, which is independent verification that the cable sustains the full 48Gbps rather than a manufacturer's own claim. The 1.5m and 3.0m versions sit outside that programme, and their performance is verified by Furutech's own testing instead. What Furutech say about the HF-A-NCF
HDMI Active Optical Cable (AOC) uses fibre optic technology to transport the digital HDMI signal, enabling lossless signal transfer over far greater distances than is possible with standard copper HDMI cables, and reducing the risk of EMI and RFI interference.
NCF Strain Relief (Multi-material Hybrid Construction)
The HF-A-NCF's cable clamp incorporates Furutech's proprietary electrical and mechanical damping material, NCF (Nano Crystal2 Formula). A cryogenic and demagnetising treatment
The Alpha Process combines cryogenic treatment with demagnetisation, and Furutech applies it to its alpha-treated pure copper. It sits alongside Ohno Continuous Cast single-crystal copper in the conductor line-up, so the Furutech catalogue includes more than one route to a pure copper conductor.
Copper, silver and hybrid conductors
Furutech's materials include silver-plated copper and copper-silver hybrids as well as OCC and alpha-treated copper. DUCC and PC-Triple C copper appear in some of its cables. This range of conductors means the same plug design can be paired with different cable types.
NCF material and interference absorption
Furutech describes its NCF, short for Nano Crystal Formula, as generating negative ions and converting thermal energy into far infrared energy. For international orders, we use FedEx or DHL services where customers have selected this option.

A cryogenic and demagnetising treatment
The Alpha Process combines cryogenic treatment with demagnetisation, and Furutech applies it to its alpha-treated pure copper. It sits alongside Ohno Continuous Cast single-crystal copper in the conductor line-up, so the Furutech catalogue includes more than one route to a pure copper conductor.
Copper, silver and hybrid conductors
Furutech's materials include silver-plated copper and copper-silver hybrids as well as OCC and alpha-treated copper. DUCC and PC-Triple C copper appear in some of its cables. This range of conductors means the same plug design can be paired with different cable types.
NCF material and interference absorption
Furutech describes its NCF, short for Nano Crystal Formula, as generating negative ions and converting thermal energy into far infrared energy. It also uses a material called GC-303 to absorb electromagnetic interference. These are Furutech's own descriptions of what the materials are designed to do.

Orders received before 4.30 pm Monday to Friday are usually dispatched the same day by FIRST CLASS post (unless premium postal or timed courier services are selected), subject to stock availability. All items are fully insured and come with an invoice from Future Shop. We use the Royal Mail for delivery of small packages and DPD Local or DHL for items that weigh over 2KG. Items over 2KG are fully insured and will usually be delivered within 48 hours of placing your order subject to stock availability. For international orders, we use FedEx or DHL services where customers have selected this option.
