Furutech HF-X NCF ULTRA HIGH-SPEED HDMI V2.1 CABLE
The Furutech HF-X-NCF is the copper member of Furutech's Ultra High Speed HDMI pair, sitting alongside the optical HF-A-NCF and matching it on specification rather than falling short of it. Both carry the full 48Gbps that HDMI 2.1 allows, both do 8K at 60p and 4K at 120p, and both support the complete modern feature set. The difference is the medium, and with it the working distance: copper is the right answer up to around five metres and the wrong one beyond it, which is precisely the range this cable covers.
The conductor is silver-plated micro-OFC, with the gauge chosen by length. The 2.5m, 3.6m and 5.0m versions use the heavier 26AWG, since resistance and signal loss rise with distance and a thicker conductor is what keeps a 48Gbps signal intact over the longer runs. Silver plating over the copper concentrates the highest frequencies, which travel at the conductor surface, in the more conductive metal. Each twisted conductor is then wrapped in double aluminium foil shielding against static and EMI, a construction Furutech state exceeds the stipulated crosstalk and noise specifications.
What follows from that is worth knowing before installation. To guarantee stable 48Gbps transmission, Furutech have purposely built the cable with a rigid structure, and at 8.5mm across it is a substantially stiffer and thicker cable than the 4.7mm optical HF-A. That firmness is deliberate engineering rather than a shortcoming, since internal geometry is what holds a signal together at this bandwidth, but it means the cable needs more room behind a wall-mounted display and will not turn a tight corner. It is also directional: an arrow printed on the jacket shows the intended data flow, and while connecting it the wrong way round damages nothing, Furutech state the audio signal will not be optimal.
The terminations carry the same engineering as the rest of Furutech's range. The HDMI Type A connector parts are treated with their two-step Alpha cryogenic and demagnetising process then given a thick layer of gold plating for reliable contact over years of use, and the connector shell is a multi-material hybrid built around NCF. That is Furutech's Nano Crystal Formula, a crystalline material that generates negative ions to eliminate static and converts thermal energy into far infrared, combined with nano-ceramic particles and carbon powder for piezoelectric damping. Furutech credit it with higher picture and sound resolution, more vivid colour and blacker backgrounds. A cryogenic and demagnetising treatment
The Alpha Process combines cryogenic treatment with demagnetisation, and Furutech applies it to its alpha-treated pure copper. It sits alongside Ohno Continuous Cast single-crystal copper in the conductor line-up, so the Furutech catalogue includes more than one route to a pure copper conductor.
Copper, silver and hybrid conductors
Furutech's materials include silver-plated copper and copper-silver hybrids as well as OCC and alpha-treated copper. DUCC and PC-Triple C copper appear in some of its cables. This range of conductors means the same plug design can be paired with different cable types.
NCF material and interference absorption
Furutech describes its NCF, short for Nano Crystal Formula, as generating negative ions and converting thermal energy into far infrared energy. A cryogenic and demagnetising treatment
The Alpha Process combines cryogenic treatment with demagnetisation, and Furutech applies it to its alpha-treated pure copper. It sits alongside Ohno Continuous Cast single-crystal copper in the conductor line-up, so the Furutech catalogue includes more than one route to a pure copper conductor.
Copper, silver and hybrid conductors
Furutech's materials include silver-plated copper and copper-silver hybrids as well as OCC and alpha-treated copper. DUCC and PC-Triple C copper appear in some of its cables. This range of conductors means the same plug design can be paired with different cable types.
NCF material and interference absorption
Furutech describes its NCF, short for Nano Crystal Formula, as generating negative ions and converting thermal energy into far infrared energy. It also uses a material called GC-303 to absorb electromagnetic interference. These are Furutech's own descriptions of what the materials are designed to do.
Why we stock Furutech
We do not just sell Furutech, we build with them. Their plugs and connectors go onto the custom cables we make in our own workshop, including cables for other brands in our range. When you fit a component by hand several times a week, you find out quickly whether it is well made.
We use Royal Mail 1st Class services for our Standard Delivery.
Orders received before 4.30 pm Monday to Friday are usually dispatched the same day by FIRST CLASS post (unless premium postal or timed courier services are selected), subject to stock availability. This does not apply to custom-length cables and speaker cables as these require a longer timescale to terminate. This also excludes all cables selected for the burn-in service. Please note, we do not process orders on national holidays in the UK. Over 98% of our orders are delivered the next working day including Saturdays.
Standard delivery is usually within 2 working days, although 98% of all orders are delivered the next working day including Saturdays. In extreme cases, such as delivery to the Highlands and Islands, this may take 3 days.
All items are fully insured and come with an invoice from Future Shop. We use the Royal Mail for delivery of small packages and DPD Local or DHL for items that weigh over 2KG. Items over 2KG are fully insured and will usually be delivered within 48 hours of placing your order subject to stock availability. For international orders, we use FedEx or DHL services where customers have selected this option.
Please note, special orders for non-standard cable lengths may be subject to longer deliver time-scales. This may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.

European Countries
Deliveries to EU member states are not subject to 20% VAT after December 31st 2020 and therefore the 20% VAT on items is automatically deducted when you log-in, register or proceed to place an order.
The customer will be liable for the VAT at the local VAT rate, duty on the import and the brokerage service fee if applicable. This may need to be paid in advance to your local Customs & Excise office or the delivery company before your order can be delivered.
