Furutech SA-22 Balanced Interconnect Cable - Custom Length
The Furutech SA-22 is a twin-core screened audio cable from Furutech's range of bulk balanced cables, made up here by Future Shop into an interconnect at the length you choose, from 1m to 10m in 0.5m steps, with the plugs of your choice at each end. Furutech list it as a Hyper Balanced type: two insulated signal conductors under an overall screen, the layout a balanced XLR lead needs.
Each conductor is made up of 80 strands of 0.18mm μ-OFC (14 AWG), insulated in special polyethylene in red and white. The two cores are twisted together with cotton fillers and wrapped in a paper tape barrier layer, then screened with an aluminium and PET tape wrap plus a braid of 0.12mm μ-OFC wire. An ultra-flexible, lead-free PVC jacket in dark brown brings the overall diameter to 9.0mm, and Furutech quote a maximum conductor resistance of 0.00924 ohms per metre.
At Future Shop we can custom make this cable for you. Choose the length you need, then select the plug you want at the source end and the receiver end from the drop-down menus. Options include Furutech's RCA plugs, female XLR connectors for the source end and male XLR connectors for the receiver end, so the cable can be made up as an RCA, XLR or RCA to XLR lead, and it can also be supplied unterminated if you prefer to fit your own. Each cable is a single run, so select a quantity of 2 for a stereo pair.

A cryogenic and demagnetising treatment
The Alpha Process combines cryogenic treatment with demagnetisation, and Furutech applies it to its alpha-treated pure copper. It sits alongside Ohno Continuous Cast single-crystal copper in the conductor line-up, so the Furutech catalogue includes more than one route to a pure copper conductor.
Copper, silver and hybrid conductors
Furutech's materials include silver-plated copper and copper-silver hybrids as well as OCC and alpha-treated copper. DUCC and PC-Triple C copper appear in some of its cables. This range of conductors means the same plug design can be paired with different cable types.
NCF material and interference absorption
Furutech describes its NCF, short for Nano Crystal Formula, as generating negative ions and converting thermal energy into far infrared energy. It also uses a material called GC-303 to absorb electromagnetic interference. These are Furutech's own descriptions of what the materials are designed to do.
