The Supreme fuse element uses silver and gold
HiFi-Tuning says the Supreme fuse element is 99% silver with 1% gold, in a ceramic casing, and that the element is cryogenically treated. The fuses are handmade and tested in Germany. Cryogenic treatment is the maker's own claim for how the fuse is processed.
Fuse holders have silver-plated contacts
The company also makes fuse holders with silver-plated contacts. You can fit one in a plug or an equipment inlet, then place a fuse of your choice in it. Check that the holder and the fuse match the size and rating your equipment needs.
Fuses come in several grades

The more fuse's in each piece of HI-FI equipment, the greater the sound will improve, equivalent to a major upgrade.
It is currently installed in the main plug of my power amplifier, and the result has been getting a new amp. There has been a marked improvement in dynamics, bass power, imaging, and treble sweetness. Most importantly, every instrument or voice on every piece of music is now projecting energy into the room like they are physically present whereas with the standard fuse, this only happened with a few really good recordings.
It looks like a crazy price for a fuse, but it is actually an excellent upgrade for what is not that much money in the world of high-end audio.
Firstly, I’d seen internet threads showing stickers being pulled off high-end fuses to reveal cheap fuses underneath—HiFi Tuning is hand-made in Germany from quality materials.
Secondly, I have Python-like cables with Furutech plugs, and it is a huge faff to take things apart to experiment with fuse direction—not at all like flipping out fuse carriers on other plugs. HiFi Tuning checks and prints the direction on their fuses and stands by it.
Thirdly, I have huge respect for Cardas copper, which is used in some of the world’s best cables and is gold-plated to prevent oxidation in this variant.
So how does it sound? I used it in the cable between my Furutech wall socket and power block as this is the first key part of the supply. My system is detailed and analytical already, but, 100 hrs into burn in there is a definite improvement in dynamics/transients. I agree with the other reviewer that the sound is “together” with an increased holographic sound stage. I particularly like that the sound has remained natural, as some electrical tweaks can skew the frequencies, particularly bass and treble.
I am new to tweaking power supplies and was always sceptical, but hearing is believing. I would recommend experimenting with fuses, as they are a relatively cheap upgrade that can get your system performing at its best. Lastly, I must compliment Trevor for patiently solving my custom cable issues.
I return to Futureshop because their customer service is so good.
After about 150 hours, the sound is more dynamic and textured, there is better front-to-back layering, the timbre is more accurate, and the music is just more 'together' if that makes sense. Five hundred hours is usually the full settling-in time for fuses, so I expect there'll be more to come. It's a worthwhile upgrade, then, and considering the price of many fuses these days, it's still a bargain.
