Meze Audio 105 AER Open-Back Headphones - Black
Meze Audio set out to make the 105 AER as accessible as possible without cutting corners on how it is built. You still get a 50mm dynamic driver, a spring steel headband with a self-adjusting PU leather strap, PVD-coated cast zinc alloy hardware and deep velour ear pads. The tuning leans warm and full-bodied, with a little extra weight in the bass and sub-bass, so it suits long sessions and a wide spread of music rather than favouring one kind of recording.
With an impedance of 42 ohms and sensitivity of 112dB SPL/mW, Meze say it is easy to drive from most portable sources as well as home set-ups. The driver pairs a carbon fibre-reinforced cellulose dome, for clear and detailed treble, with a PEEK surround that keeps the membrane stiff and quick, and a copper-zinc stabiliser that soaks up vibration. At 336g it is Meze's lightest open-back headphone to date, and the whole headphone can be taken apart and serviced, which matters if you plan to keep it for years.
If you are choosing between the two 105 models, the 105 AER has PC-ABS ear cups, an Art Deco-inspired design and a lush, warm sound. The 105 SILVA uses walnut wood with PC-ABS for its ear cups, a titanium-coated driver surround and a tuning Meze describe as fun and detailed, with a more expressive midrange. Driver Design
Our 50 mm dynamic driver architecture has proven to be remarkably reliable and versatile. To keep 105 AER as accessible as possible, the driver membrane and frame underwent slight modifications. We took this opportunity to introduce a unique new headphone voicing that fits all musical genres.
W-Shaped Dome
Made of a carbon fiber-reinforced cellulose composite, the dome can reproduce high-frequencies with incredible detail, clarity, and definition. More durable than conventional alternatives used in dynamic drivers, yet lightweight, this composite helps reduce resonances that may lead to harmonic distortion.
Ultra-Thin Torus
The torus surrounding the dome is made of PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone), a semicrystalline polymer with excellent mechanical properties. PEEK’s high tensile strength and stiffness ensure the driver membrane maintains structural integrity under high stress, while its lightweight nature allows for quicker movement in response to audio signals. This enhances clarity and detail, making every note and nuance in your music come alive. Additionally, PEEK boasts superior internal damping characteristics, which reduce unwanted resonances and vibrations.
Stiffness and durability are also enhanced through the grooves on the torus, which are precisely positioned at a 45.5° angle.

Closed-back and in-ear models suit other uses

Parts are designed to be replaceable

Special Delivery UK - Guaranteed Next Working Day
We have 99.9% of the UK covered With Royal Mail Next Day Special Delivery. We guarantee delivery to most UK addresses by 1pm the next working day. This includes Northern Ireland, Jersey and Guernsey. Some places take longer to deliver to but we still guarantee delivery within three working days by 5.30 PM.
Please note, Royal Mail Special Delivery for next working day may not be possible where non-standard cable lengths are ordered. If this is the case, the item will be shipped via The Royal Mail Special Delivery service as soon as the cable is custom made.
For orders weighing over 2KG, we reserve the right to ship items using Next Day Pre-Noon Courier Services where Royal Mail Special Delivery option has been selected.
Channel Islands & Northern Ireland
We accept orders from all Channel Islands including Alderney, Jersey, Guernsey and Sark. Unless you select a premium service, Items weighing under 2KG are delivered using our standard UK delivery option above. For items weighing over 2KG, a surcharge may be applied for all deliveries to the Channel Islands as well as Northern Ireland.
European Countries
Deliveries to EU member states are not subject to 20% VAT after December 31st 2020 and therefore the 20% VAT on items is automatically deducted when you log-in, register or proceed to place an order.
The customer will be liable for the VAT at the local VAT rate, duty on the import and the brokerage service fee if applicable. This may need to be paid in advance to your local Customs & Excise office or the delivery company before your order can be delivered.

- Royal Mail First Class International Airmail Services - Items are usually delivered within 3 to 5 working days
- Royal Mail Standard International Mail Services - Items are usually delivered within 7-10 working days
- DHL Express International - Items are usually delivered within 24 to 48 hours. DHL orders must be received by 3:30pm for next day service to most destinations in Europe
- Federal Express International Priority - Items are usually delivered within 24 to 48 hours. FedEx orders must be received by 3.00pm for next day service to most destinations in Europe
- Federal Express International Economy - Item are usually delivered within 48 to 72 hours
We reserve the right to change your shipping method without notification if you select a method that we cannot use for your shipment (for instance, we cannot ship via postal services for items over 2 Kg to International destinations). If we need to change your shipping method, we will choose the least expensive shipping method for your order.
