The Meze Audio Ultra Cable is the top of Meze's headphone cable range, made for their headphones with dual mini 4-pin XLR sockets. Meze list the Empyrean, Empyrean II, Elite and ARTA as compatible. Its conductors are 7N pure silver, 99.99999% pure, and silver's very low resistance is the point: less of the signal is lost between amplifier and drivers, so fine detail comes through cleanly, treble stays open and smooth, and bass keeps its grip.
Every wire is made up of 40 conductors just 0.08mm across, hand-braided in Baia Mare, Romania, in a continuous sixteen-wire to eight-wire pattern with no joins along the run. Braiding this way reduces both the interference the cable picks up and the noise it radiates. The shells and Y-splitter are cast zinc alloy with a hard-wearing PVD finish, the plugs are attached with Jensen solder containing 5% silver, and the cable comes in a hard case with an Alcantara cloth for keeping the metalwork clean.
There are four source plugs to choose from: single-ended 3.5mm and 6.3mm, or balanced 4.4mm and 4-pin XLR, each in 1.2m, 1.5m, 2m, 2.5m and 3m lengths. Some places take longer to deliver to but we still guarantee delivery within three working days by 5.30 PM.
