Aircore Technology™
QED cables above 2.5mm2 cross sectional area utilise air core technology to obviate the skin effect by bundling several separately insulated smaller cores together to make up a larger CSA. If these conductors are arranged around a hollow central core of polyethylene the self inductance exhibited by the cable can be reduced to around half that predicted by calculation.

Construction
Starting from the inside, Genesis Silver Spiral comprises two grouped bunches of conductors. Each Group is made up of nine individually insulated silver plated 99.999% Oxygen Free Copper cores twisted around two central fillers (one red, one white) in QED's special spiral geometry to minimise sound-degrading "proximity effect".
Silver Plated OFC provides greater conductivity than copper alone and delivers superb resolution and delicacy, especially when used as part of a high-end system. All elements of the dielectric, including the thin, low-density conductor insulation, are Polyethylene (a material with a low dielectric constant and an ability to dramatically reduce signal leakage).
The grouping geometry reduces inductance between conductors, thus minimising field-effect distortions. Aluminium mylar tape separates the twisted conductors and the translucent PVC jacket provides a tough protective flexible outer cover.

Termination
This cable is professionally terminated by Futureshop's expert engineers using QED's superb 24 Carat gold plated AIRLOC termination plugs.
AIRLOC is QED's specialised loudspeaker termination method and offers the very best termination with QED speaker cables. This is a solder-free, airtight fusion between the cable and plug offering optimum signal transfer, excellent signal quality and perfect long-term performance.
QED’s AIRLOC FORTE metal banana and spade plugs deliver a superior performance over many plugs offered by rival manufacturers for the following reasons. Firstly, the plug is crimped around the conductors under high pressure using a special tool supplied by QED. No soldering is used and as a result the conductors are in contact with the plug 360 degrees which maximises the surface area contact. Furthermore, the banana plug itself is in contact with the binding post again at 360 degrees. The net effect of this is it maximises the signal transfer from the plug into your equipment and hence a superior performance. When bare wire is used not all the conductors are in contact with the binding post and as a result some loss occurs.
Unfortunately the metal barrels for the AIRLOC spades were discontinued in 2012 however we still use genuine QED’s AIRLOC spade plugs with genuine QED heat shrinks over the spade plugs. This ensures every QED speaker cable comes fully terminated with the best of QED's engineering.
Please Note: it is not possible to terminate the Genesis Silver Spiral Bi-Wire speaker cable with 2 AIRLOC plugs at the amplifier end. The larger gauge of the conductors' means we are unable to fit '2' sets of conductors into one AIRLOC plug.
At the amplifier end, we recommend you opt for the WBT-0610Cu banana plugs or the WBT-0681Cu spade plugs which will give you 2 terminations, i.e. one positive, one negative.
Alternatively, if the binding posts on your amplifier accept banana and spade plugs, you can opt for the 2x QED AIRLOC banana plugs with 2x QED AIRLOC spade plugs option. This means one banana and one spade plug can be fitted to the same binding post and will be the equivalent of having two conductors in one AIRLOC plug.
How to Order

- Cable Compatibility: We regret to inform you that we cannot burn-in cables with stripped bare ends or BFA plugs. In order for cables to undergo the burn-in process, they should be terminated or have connectors.
- Timing: Cables will be burnt in for the selected period after processing your order. For custom-length cables, the burn-in process will occur after they have been terminated by the manufacturer or our engineers unless specified otherwise in the product description.
- Availability: Future Shop provides our cable burn-in service free of charge, but its availability is at our discretion. The Nordost VIDAR cable burn-in machine integrates three key functions into one operation:
- Charge Neutralisation: It eliminates charges that accumulate around the cables and their insulation, ensuring a more balanced electrical environment.
- Deep Conditioning: The machine provides a wide band and deep conditioning process that affects the conductor core, resulting in changes to the signal transmission through the metal. This deep conditioning enhances the cable's performance.
- Ultrasonic Surface Conditioning: The VIDAR machine utilizes ultrasonic waves to condition the surface of the conductors, optimizing their contact and overall conductivity.
The VIDAR employs a proprietary combination of composite and complex signals to condition the cables. Transmit wide audio frequency with refined & pleasant upper register, rich mid register, and solid & firm lower register. With this set of cables, my TAD speakers reproduce resolving and, at the same time, vivid and harmonic sounds of the orchestra.

Result? Air, space between instruments, not as bass solid authoritative as the ones they replaced. Better mid/ hf detail. Deeper, not necessarily wider soundstage. I changed a few things in and out lately, so I keep notes on the contribution. Different ears and different systems will come to different conclusions.
Is there a difference? Yes. Better? The bar was very high to start with. Would I buy it again? Yes.

I've bought these cables to replace my old Mercury Speaker Cable, and I never regretted it. I'm very pleased with my brand new QED signature Genesis Sprial Speaker Cables.
The one-metre length was the correct length for my equipment. Beautifully designed cables too. Sounds terrific with my Marantz system with Wharfedale's 11.3 Loudspeakers. I actually put my Dali luxury Bananas plugs instead of the actual QED plugs.
I'm so pleased with the quality and sound.
If anybody buys these cables, I would recommend that future shop strip the cables for you because my brother took some time in stripping them to fit my plugs onto them.

My system sounds as though it’s had a stent fitted! The difference in the whole range is palpable. Bottom, mid and top. Bought these to replace my QED Silver Anniversary XT Bi-Wire cables. Well, the difference is amazing. The clarity of voice and instruments is wonderful and suits my set-up well. I got a 2x4m bi-wire (which is actually a bi-amp configuration) with 4 bananas at each end.
They sit between a Denon X7200W and a pair of 1994 model Infinity Kappa 8.1 Series II (front ported US model).
I got the cables with the Nordost 96 hours burn-in process.
I don't know if it's the burn-in process or just the cable but the improvement from my previous cables (QED XT350) is obvious.
It's a clear cable; broader than the XT350, voices and instruments are placed different in 3D space (between the speakers and in front of the listener) compared to the XT350 and the feeling is that the high frequencies are brighter as well.
Bass wise, it sound just a tidy tighter than the XT350.
Another thing that I think it's happening with the Genesis Silver Spiral is that at same db output level from the amplifier, the speakers are playing at a louder volume compared to the XT350.
Probably the Genesis leave a lot more current pass thru.
So now I've moved one of mine XT350 to the center channel of the home theater: improved that one as well from the old cable I was using there. :)
Thanks to the guys at FutureShop, I was as well able to order the cables with a special non standard lenght at one end.
Overall really satisfied with the quality of the product and the professionality of the people working at FutureShop.
I got a 2x4m bi-wire (which is actually a bi-amp configuration) with 4 bananas at each end.
They sit between a Denon X7200W and a pair of 1994 model Infinity Kappa 8.1 Series II (front ported US model).
I got the cables with the Nordost 96 hours burn-in process.
I don't know if it's the burn-in process or just the cable but the improvement from my previous cables (QED XT350) is obvious.
It's a clear cable; broader than the XT350, voices and instruments are placed different in 3D space (between the speakers and in front of the listener) compared to the XT350 and the feeling is that the high frequencies are brighter as well.
Bass wise, it sound just a tidy tighter than the XT350.

I am using 2*3m in my system Arcam DV139, Meridian 557 and B&W801MatrixS3. Replaced a medium level Audioquest cable. Improvements in all areas! Very detailed without overemphasising full range sound. Lets more of the source signal through than any cable I have heard before. Does not polish the sound, sounds very neutral, rich sound colours, relaxed, dynamic. Would buy it again.

This cable is beautiful, smooth, spacious, detailed, a perfect balance with nice base weight and equal performance in mid-range and treble. I am using it with Roksan Caspian cd, Arcam a85 and p85, B&W cd1nt speakers and i am very pleased with the results 10/10
