QED Performance Optical Toslink Cable
The QED Performance Optical carries digital audio as light. It's the cable for connecting a TV to a soundbar, a games console or streamer to an AV receiver, or a CD transport to a DAC, anywhere the equipment has Toslink optical sockets. Optical has one built-in advantage over every electrical cable: there is no electrical connection between the two components. Ground loops, hum and electrical noise from one box simply cannot travel through to the other.
How well an optical cable works comes down to how much light survives the journey and how cleanly it arrives. QED use an acrylic (PMMA) fibre with lower signal attenuation than typical optical cables, giving it ample bandwidth for the multi-channel digital audio formats used today. The fibre has a stepped refractive index core that keeps the light inside it and minimises absorption and dispersion at the fibre boundary, so the signal is delivered with minimum loss. Less loss and less smearing of the light pulses mean lower jitter and cleaner data at the receiving end.
The terminations matter just as much as the fibre. QED carefully polish the cut ends of the fibre and set them into precision-engineered plugs, so light passes into and out of the cable as efficiently as possible. The plugs are designed for a secure fit in any standard Toslink socket. An ultra-flexible TPE jacket protects the fibre from mechanical shock and from sharp bends, which are the most common way optical cables get damaged. QED rate it to support 24-bit/192kHz, making it suitable for hi-res audio.
The Performance Optical is available in 0.75m, 1.5m and 3.0m lengths.

QED Performance Optical uses an acrylic glass fibre which has lower signal attenuation than that of typical cables. This means that it is capable of transmitting the high bandwidth signals demanded by today's multi-channel digital audio links with ease. The cable features a stepped refractive index core that minimises light absorption and modal dispersion of single mode optical signals at the fibre boundary, thus ensuring the signal is delivered with minimum loss. We use Royal Mail 1st Class services for our Standard Delivery.
Orders received before 4.30 pm Monday to Friday are usually dispatched the same day by FIRST CLASS post (unless premium postal or timed courier services are selected), subject to stock availability. This does not apply to custom-length cables and speaker cables as these require a longer timescale to terminate. This also excludes all cables selected for the burn-in service. Please note, we do not process orders on national holidays in the UK. Over 98% of our orders are delivered the next working day including Saturdays.

All items are fully insured and come with an invoice from Future Shop. We use the Royal Mail for delivery of small packages and DPD Local or DHL for items that weigh over 2KG. Items over 2KG are fully insured and will usually be delivered within 48 hours of placing your order subject to stock availability. For international orders, we use FedEx or DHL services where customers have selected this option.
