Shunyata Research SR-Z Cable Adapter
IEC connector types are not always interchangeable, and that mismatch can create a genuine problem when you want to use a quality power cable on a component whose inlet does not match. The Shunyata Research SR-Z Cable Adapter solves this without compromise. Available in two configurations, it allows a standard C13/C15 power cable to connect to a C19 inlet, or a C19 cable to connect to a C13/C15 inlet. Both variants are manufactured to the same standard as Shunyata's power cables: proprietary connectors, built to the highest grade tolerances, and treated with Shunyata's Alpha Cryogenic process.
Cryogenic treatment is applied across Shunyata's adapter range for the same reason it is applied to their cables: it aligns the crystalline structure of the metal contacts at a molecular level, reducing micro-arcing and improving conductivity through the connection. In a product that sits between a premium power cable and a sensitive component, the quality of the contact matters. A cheap adapter is a bottleneck regardless of what is on either side of it.
The SR-Z is a practical accessory for anyone running Shunyata power cables into a HYDRA power conditioner or high-current power amplifier, or adapting a HYDRA cable for use on a standard component inlet. It is also worth considering whenever an upgrade cable or new component introduces a connector mismatch in an otherwise well-sorted system.
Here is what Shunyata Research says about the SR-Z Cable Adapter
C14-C19: The SR-Z C14-C19 adapter allows power cables with an IEC C15/C13 connection to be used on components that require an IEC C19 connector. These connectors are manufactured exclusively by Shunyata with the highest grade proprietary parts. All SR-Z adaptors are treated with Shunyata's exclusive Alpha Cryogenic process.
C20-C15: The SR-Z C20-C15 adapter allows power cables with an IEC C19 connection to be used on components that require a standard IEC C15/C13 connector. These adaptors are manufactured exclusively by Shunyata with the highest grade proprietary parts. All SR-Z adaptors are treated with Shunyata's exclusive Alpha Cryogenic process.

Reliability
Over more than 2 decades, the reliability and durability of Shunyata Research products has become a legendary attribute of the brand. Shunyata products are completely non-reactive and run cool to the touch. They do not hum, vibrate, buzz, or generate heat and do not require any ventilation. Despite heavy-use applications in studios, medical labs, and home environments, Shunyata Research products maintain an almost zero failure rate.
Quality
In an era of products that are mass-produced, Shunyata Research invests in training career craftsman who build our products by hand at our factory in Poulsbo, Washington. The exceptional fit, finish, and attention to detail has become a hallmark trait of Shunyata Research products going back to its inception in 1998. Shunyata Research has been building some of the finest power and cable products in the industry for more than twenty years. The commitment to building durable products that are designed to last a lifetime elevates our products to the top of their class.
Safety
Safety and quality control is job one at Shunyata Research. Before anything leaves the factory, we test each and every product thoroughly and carefully for safety and quality. This explains the long-term success of Shunyata Research products in the professional recording, medical, scientific, and consumer industries. Shunyata Research's impeccable product safety and reliability track record for the past 23 years speaks for itself.
About Shunyata Research
Shunyata Research was founded in 1997 by Caelin Gabriel, a former US military research scientist whose work on ultra-sensitive data acquisition systems gave him a deep understanding of noise, interference, and signal integrity. That background is the foundation for everything Shunyata makes. The company designs and manufactures power distribution, power cables, signal cables, and accessories at its 18,000 square foot facility near Seattle, Washington, with each product built by hand by career craftspeople. Shunyata holds more than 10 patents and its products are used in professional recording studios, medical and surgical facilities, and high-performance home audio systems worldwide. The company's research-led approach, combined with manufacturing quality that remains almost entirely in-house, has made it one of the most respected names in power and cable design.

Hollow-tube conductors to limit skin effect
VTX conductors are made in a virtual hollow-tube form from OFE Alloy 101 copper, a design intended to reduce skin effect and eddy currents. VTX-Ag speaker cables add a pure silver centre conductor inside a ring of pure copper, with fluorocarbon insulation to limit dielectric absorption.
Noise treated in the cable and in the mains
TAPc, a patent-pending technology, couples to the electromagnetic fields around a conductor with the aim of reducing electromagnetic distortion. ΞTRON, which is patented, addresses dielectric absorption using dual signal paths. On the power side, CCI filters reduce noise generated by components without heavy transformers or coils.
Metals are processed before they are built into cable
Shunyata treats its conductor metals with KPIP v2, a four-day continuous process that it says refines the metals at an atomic level and shortens burn-in time. Joints are sonically welded rather than soldered, and the CopperCONN connectors use pure copper contacts.
Why we stock Shunyata
Shunyata are not a brand you can simply decide to stock, and getting an account took some doing. Their cable construction is unlike anything else we carry, and their sister division builds power systems for medical imaging, which tells you how seriously they treat noise. The customers who try them very rarely go back to what they had.
