I was very impressed by the quality of the cable, its construction, and its conductors. It was easy to construct into a custom mains lead using my specified plugs, and the sound quality is exactly what I was after.
There is a definite lowering of the noise floor, plus a bigger, more solid foundation to the sound. I will be using this cable going forward.
As someone who meticulously cares about every detail of my audio/video setup, finding the right power cable is crucial. I recently integrated the Supra LoRad 2.5 SPC CS Unterminated Mains Cable into my system, customising it to the exact lengths I needed. Its perfect pairing was with the Furutech FP-1363D NCF UK double wall socket (Rhodium finish) that I previously reviewed for its superb quality and stunning appearance. Together, this duo has proven to be absolutely transformative.
From the moment I powered up my components with these new cables, the improvements were immediately apparent. The core promise of Supra's "LoRad" (LOw RADiation) technology truly delivers. My system now boasts an incredibly low noise floor. It's as if a veil has been lifted, revealing nuances and details in my music and movies that I had previously overlooked. The background is blacker, allowing instruments and vocals to emerge with startling clarity and definition.
I'm particularly impressed by the impact on dynamics and soundstage. With less interference clouding the signal, my system's ability to render explosive transients and subtle shifts in volume is significantly enhanced. The soundstage has opened up dramatically, offering a more three-dimensional and immersive experience. Bass is tighter, more impactful, and beautifully controlled, while mid-range and treble frequencies are presented with a newfound purity and airiness.
The Silver-Plated Copper (SPC) conductors within the cable clearly play a vital role. The power delivery feels exceptionally clean and uncoloured, allowing my components to perform at their absolute best without adding any sonic signature of their own. This neutrality is exactly what I look for in high-fidelity cabling – it lets the true character of my expensive electronics shine through.
Even on the video side, for my AV setup, I've noticed a subtle but definite improvement. The picture feels more stable, with slightly better contrast and overall clarity, likely due to the reduction in ambient electrical noise.
The fact that this cable comes unterminated was a huge plus for me. It gave me the freedom to craft custom-length cables for each component, ensuring a tidy setup and optimal performance. While it requires careful termination (or professional help), the effort is absolutely worth it. Thanks to the high-quality Furutech socket I chose, I know the initial connection to the mains power is solid and clean, allowing the Supra cable to realise its full potential.
In conclusion, the Supra LoRad 2.5 SPC CS Mains Cable, coupled with the premium wall socket, has proven to be an indispensable upgrade. It's not just a cable; it's an investment in a cleaner, more dynamic, and ultimately more enjoyable listening and viewing experience. If you're looking to elevate your system's performance by eliminating electrical interference, I wholeheartedly recommend giving this combination a try. It's truly an amazing product!
At first, the cable sounded like any other stock cable you receive with the component you’ve just bought, but after 4 hours of burning in, all the tonations changed.
It has a deeper bass that is not overpowering but more controlled. The mid-range is extended to give you a more fulfilling, smoother sound. For the price of this cable, you will get more for your money.
If I had to nitpick, the only thing I can think of is the cable jacket color. It’s actually medium gray, not dark gray as pictured. Still a handsome cable.
