Atacama MOSECO 5.2 speaker stands (Pair)

The Atacama Moseco 5.2 is a substantial upgrade over the standard Moseco 5, retaining the award-winning range's bamboo-based construction while addressing the areas that matter most for performance and versatility. The base has been enlarged to 250mm x 340mm, up from 240mm x 280mm on the standard model, providing a meaningfully more secure footprint for larger or heavier bookshelf speakers. Mass loading capacity has been doubled, allowing the vertical tubes to be filled with significantly more Atabites or similar filler material, which lowers the centre of gravity and contributes to a tighter, better-controlled bass response. A 10mm increase in overall height brings the stand to 560mm, improving tweeter alignment for typical modern seating positions, and the base panel has been restyled to match the aesthetic of the Atacama Evoque SE2 hi-fi rack range for those who want a cohesive listening room setup.

The Moseco 5.2 is designed to grow with a system rather than be replaced by it. The standard 50mm tubes can be swapped for 75mm tubes if greater mass loading is needed, or for cable management tubes to keep wiring out of sight. The standard top plate measures 130mm x 170mm, and a range of larger optional plates are available separately to suit speakers of different footprints, including a 190mm x 305mm option. Each stand supports speakers up to 15kg, and the carbonised sustainable bamboo construction is made in the UK.

Moseco speaker stands are made in the UK.

Bamboo is a natural product, so some slight colour variance between panels will be present and the colours will mature over time or if left in direct sunlight. This slight colour variation will also apply if you attempt to match a pair of Moseco speaker stands to a Atacama bamboo based equipment support

Atacama Audio source all Bamboo used in their products directly from sustainable forests.

About Atacama Audio

Atacama Audio, formerly known as Sambell Engineering Ltd, has a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1969 as a sub-contract engineering company specialising in aerospace work. With a strong reputation as a trusted supplier to prestigious companies like Rolls Royce and British Aerospace, Atacama Audio transitioned into manufacturing its own commercial products. In 1987, Atacama Audio developed an innovative HiFi speaker stand, which garnered positive feedback from local retailers. Despite being temporarily put on hold in 1988 due to overwhelming manufacturing demands, the interest in the speaker stands remained. The success continued with various award-winning products, including the Atacama Eris Eco 5, Evoque Eco 60-40, Moseco Speaker Stand, and Apollo Storm 6 modular HiFi rack. As a company committed to innovation, Atacama Audio constantly explores new concepts in HiFi furniture design. Their latest range, the NeXXus series of speaker stands, offers adaptability, upgradability, and a wide range of customisation options. Atacama Audio and Apollo HiFi furniture strives to exceed customer expectations, providing exceptional HiFi speaker stands and AV rack support designs. The company looks forward to introducing even more innovative designs in the future.

About Atacama Audio

British maker of hi-fi racks and equipment supports, built from bamboo composite, solid oak and steel.

Atacama is based in Croft, Leicestershire, and its products are made in Great Britain. It builds hi-fi racks and equipment supports from bamboo composite, solid oak, other hardwoods and steel. The ranges include Evoque Eco, Apollo and Elite Eco, in sizes from compact to wide, so there is a rack for a small stack or a full system.

Isolation is built into the rack

The Evoque Eco range uses ASIST damping gaskets as standard, along with a mechanical grounding system and modular isolation components. The SE2 versions add vectored resonance channels and contoured shelving. All of this is aimed at controlling vibration at the shelf, where it affects your sources.

Bamboo and oak, in several finishes

Bamboo panels are used in the Evoque range, and solid oak in the Apollo Storm and Apollo Podium ranges. Finishes include natural oak, dark oak, natural bamboo and dark bamboo, plus a Premium Black Edition, so a rack can be matched to the room it sits in.

Modular racks, with vinyl storage on some

The Apollo and Evoque racks are modular, so you can put together a rack that suits the equipment you own and add to it later. Apollo Storm and Apollo Podium offer vinyl storage, and it is an option on the Elite Reference Series.

Why we stock Atacama

Atacama have taken What Hi-Fi?'s Best Hi-Fi Rack award in multiple years, which is not something that happens by accident in a category where most products look much the same. Support matters more than people expect: a good rack does for your electronics roughly what isolation feet do for a turntable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Start with power (cables & distribution), then upgrade signal cabling, support (Hi-Fi Racks) and isolation accessories. These incremental changes can unlock more from your existing gear. Once you have the basic essentials, then you can look at further upgrades, such as fuses, cartridges, better isolation and more!

It is usually best to address obvious issues first, such as unstable equipment placement or poor isolation, before adding more specialised accessories. Call (0208 905 1555) or Email (sales@futureshop.co.uk) one of our consultants to identify an ideal upgrade path for your system.

A high-quality hi-fi system is built around a few core elements working together. At its heart is a source, such as a streamer, turntable, CD player, or digital audio player, which provides the music. This signal is then shaped and boosted by amplification, which may include an integrated amplifier, headphone amplifier, or phono stage depending on the system. The sound is delivered through speakers or headphones, which have a major influence on the overall character of what you hear. Supporting components also play an important role. DACs improve digital playback quality, cartridges and phono stages are vital for vinyl, and hi-fi racks, speaker stands, and isolation products help equipment perform consistently. A balanced system does not rely on one standout component, but on how well everything works together.
Loading...
Isolation and support products can make a clearly audible difference, especially in resolving systems. Vibrations from floors, speakers, and even airborne sound can interfere with sensitive components like turntables, DACs, and amplifiers. Proper speaker stands help speakers perform as intended by improving stability, positioning, and bass control. Hi-fi racks and isolation platforms reduce unwanted resonance, helping systems sound cleaner, more focused, and more consistent. While these products may not change the sound as dramatically as speakers or cartridges, they often unlock performance that is already there but being masked by vibration or poor placement.
Loading...
That depends on the starting point of the system. If the fundamentals are weak, such as entry-level speakers, poor setup, or missing core components, starting with the basics usually brings the biggest gains. A well-matched foundation allows later upgrades to shine. If the system is already balanced, upgrading individual components can be very effective. Improvements such as a better cartridge, DAC, phono stage, or isolation can refine detail, clarity, and realism. The most rewarding upgrades tend to be those that address the system’s weakest link rather than focusing on one category alone.
Loading...
In many systems, the biggest improvement comes from upgrading speakers or headphones, as these shape the sound more than any other component. For vinyl systems, the cartridge and phono stage are often the most influential upgrades. In digital systems, a higher-quality DAC or streamer can significantly improve clarity and timing. Beyond electronics, addressing setup, isolation, and support is often overlooked but highly effective. Improving speaker positioning, adding proper stands, or isolating sensitive equipment can deliver noticeable gains without changing core components. The best first upgrade is usually the one that removes the most obvious limitation in the current system.
Loading...
There are lots of components and tweaks that can offer a lift in performance, however, our current favourite is the UK 13A mains fuse from your wall socket to your distribution block or amplifier. This is an often overlooked component in most systems but the improvements far outweigh it's size and cost.
