64 Audio started in 2010 as 1964 Ears, building custom in-ear monitors for touring musicians where a failure mid-set is not an option. The universal-fit models sold to listeners come off the same line in Vancouver, Washington, with the same driver designs.
Two patented technologies define them. apex, or Air Pressure Exchange, vents the sealed chamber behind the driver, relieving the pressure build-up that causes listening fatigue in most sealed in-ears; the m15 and m20 modules swap out to trade isolation against openness. tia, or Tubeless In-Ear Audio, removes the tube and damper that normally sit between a balanced armature and your ear, which changes the high frequency behaviour considerably.
Fit matters more with in-ears than with any other headphone type, so a conversation about tip size and ear anatomy beats guessing at it from a product page.
