Hand-built in Portland, with unusual driver choices
Campfire Audio came out of ALO Audio, a cable and amplifier company, which is why the included cables have always been better than the category norm.
The house approach is to combine driver types in ways others do not: balanced armatures without tubes, dynamic drivers in solid body chambers, and more recently their own planar magnetic designs. The housings are machined from aluminium, stainless steel or ceramic rather than moulded, which is why they feel like nothing else in the box.
Assembly is done by hand in Portland. That keeps the numbers low and the models changing more often than most, so a model you like is worth buying while it is current.
Fit varies more than usual across the range, so tip selection matters.
