Final have been making headphones in Kawasaki since 1974, and what marks them out is how seriously the cheap models are taken. The E-series earphones cost very little and are tuned by the people responsible for the reference models, which is why they get recommended far outside their price bracket.
Final's own research into how people perceive headphone sound underpins the tuning, and they publish more about it than most manufacturers do.
Higher up sits AFDS, the Air Film Damping System developed for their planar magnetic headphones, which are built at Kawasaki on tooling Final designed and made themselves. The A-series in-ears are the other flagship line.
The tip selection Final include is a real one rather than a token gesture, and since fit changes an in-ear's bass response more than any other variable, it is worth working through properly.
