HDMI that survives the wall
An HDMI cable inside a wall has to work for years without being touched, and the failure rate of ordinary cable at length is why installers care about brand here. Kordz have built their business on that problem since 2003, from Victoria, Australia.
Passive designs cover the short runs and active optical takes over beyond them, with fibre carrying the signal and a light engine inside the connector itself, so no separate power supply is needed. Both are certified against HDMI's own test specification rather than to a marketing claim, which is what allows performance at length to be stated rather than hoped for.
The engineering is aimed at the installer. Compact die-cast connectors with measured retention force, internal reinforcement rated for pulling through conduit, fire-rated jackets, and a dust cap shaped to feed through a duct. Every cable is tested individually in production.
For a domestic run behind a television any decent cable will do. For a fifteen metre run to a projector through a ceiling, this is where getting it wrong is expensive.
