Modular racks, built near Bath
Eddie Spruit founded Quadraspire in an East London studio in 1995, and the design has barely changed since because it did not need to. Shelves supported on columns, the height between them set by the column length, and levels added by unscrewing the top and building upward.
That modularity is the whole proposition. A rack bought for three components takes a fourth without being replaced, and shelf heights change when a component does. Shelves and columns are CNC machined in Bath.
The acoustic argument sits in the shelf. Quadraspire's position is that the shelf material and its coupling to the column affect what a component does, so the upgrade path runs through the shelf rather than the frame. Wood finishes sit at the accessible end and solid bamboo above them, denser, stiffer and rated to carry roughly twice the weight.
Above that sit vented shelf designs and heavier column structures. Parts stay compatible within a range for years, so a shelf bought long after the stand will still fit it.
