EpicX is based on Chord's multi-award-winning Chord OdysseyX speaker cable. Both cables use 12 AWG oxygen free copper negative and positive conductors, silver-plated and insulated with XLPE before an outer PVC jacket is applied. The key difference (and performance leap) is due to the effective high frequency combination shield and translucent PVC jacket that is added to EpicX.

Termination
This cable is custom-made according to customers specific requirements as selected by the various drop-down options above. Future Shop’s highly experienced engineers professionally terminate Chord Cable’s using their superb silver-plated ChordOhmic plugs.
ChordOhmic is Chord’s new silver-plated termination option designed to bring both the electrical and sonic benefits of silver to your speaker cable. Future Shop terminates Chord speaker cables using Chord’s special HEXGUN. An airtight crimp is applied to the plug creating a secure and protected termination. This is a solder-free, airtight fusion between the cable and plug offering optimum signal transfer, excellent signal quality and perfect long-term performance. Furthermore, the banana plug itself is in contact with the binding post again at 360 degrees. The net effect of this is it maximises the signal transfer from the plug into your equipment and hence a superior performance. When a bare wire is used not all the conductors are in contact with the binding post and as a result, some loss occurs.
Future Shop also offer gold-plated banana and spade plugs which are soldered as an alternative to the ChordOhmic plugs.
How to Order

The Nordost VIDAR cable burn-in machine integrates three key functions into one operation:
- Charge Neutralisation: It eliminates charges that accumulate around the cables and their insulation, ensuring a more balanced electrical environment.

Reading a review about speaker cables used to seem somewhere between voodoo and superstition to me until a few years ago. In my opinion, there shouldn't be any significant differences as long as you use reasonably decent cables and connectors.
However, since I've been using a much better amplifier (Cyrus) and speakers (Spendor), this opinion has changed. Cables can indeed improve the performance of a system if they have a neutral sound, meaning they don't unnecessarily boost highs or lows. Conversely, they can degrade performance if they aren't neutral.
The Chord Epic X definitely enhances the sound, especially compared to the cables I was using before (QED Reference). In my view, this is a clear recommendation, especially if you use Cyrus amplifiers that require BFA connectors.
However, since I've been using a much better amplifier (Cyrus) and speakers (Spendor), this opinion has changed. I ordered a 5 m. pair of Epix X speaker cables to replace the Shawline cables I've been using.
The current components the Epics are connected to are: Rega Appollo CD transport into a Merason Frero DAC, Origin Live Aurora Mk4 turntable with an Encounter Tone Arm and Ortofon Quintet Black/ Gold Note Phono into a Rega Aethos amp.
The Epics have a tighter Bass and appear to have a sharper overall sound. My only problem is that they are about a foot too short. My bad!

Equipment used, Roksan Blak CD player, Exposure 5010 pre and 5010 monoblocks, Q Acoustics Concept 50 speakers, NVA and Ecosse XLR interconnects.
My previous speaker cable was QED Silver Anniversary XT. Although the Q Acoustics speakers are the weak link in this system, they do scale up, and the Chord Epic X was bought specifically to do just that, which for the vast majority of my CD collection, achieves this.
I don’t think I have managed to get to bed before 3 am since I hooked them up. However, they do show up quite brutally any poor or badly produced recordings, and sometimes I feel like hooking up my old cables ( including all the other cables, which are also new) because some of my collection now sounds awful.
Sometimes less is more. Would I do it again? Absolutely, put the right stuff in and be prepared for your jaw to drop and your eyes to water, but isn’t that how music is supposed to be?

My companions are B&W 702 S3 + NAD M33 + bundle speaker cable by Norstone + Tidal. With the system, classical music recorded the 60s/70s was not clear enough. The rock guitar riff was like a midi sound. Except for those, I was very satisfied with the system.
By changing the cable to Epic X, the hi opened like a lily top, the rock guitar riff is getting stickier, and the low was tight as it used to be with Norstone. Most satisfying is for Twitter as it gets more airy and ambient with a wider and higher sound stage
With help from Future Shop, I could make a faster decision to Epic X, and the result was 100% satisfaction to my taste.

The speaker cables purchased were made by positive reviews, and I also enquired about a HiFi guru enjoying a high-end HiFi system for over 35 years.
Initially, I had two options from The Chord company, where Epic X speaker cables are at a lower price. The guru knows my Amp, Speakers...and he recommended Epic X.
We started to enjoy more clearer human voices, more details on music. I am not a professional, but it is noticeable that more enjoyable sound/music than I have ever had with the same HiFi system.
We have run them for about two weeks, and the sound is gradually getting better and better.
It's worth investing in this cable since I feel the singer voice more closer to me, hard to describe about the feeling with the same speakers, amp, CD player and CDs.

Short version… the room sounds twice as big as it is, clean, controlled and wide open. This is a wonderful product worth every penny (even before fully burned in).
A house move necessitated replacing some rather good (or so I thought) Kimber Kable. Man alive, the Chord Epic is so much better I checked Future Shop hadn’t sent the wrong stuff… it has made a good Linn/Roksan/b&w system sound so clean and rhythmic nothing will need changing again for another 20 years.
If it had cost twice as much the Epic X would still get 5 stars.

I haven't bought these cables from future shop regrettably however these cables are just ridiculous how much sound improvement they bring. Go demo some, seriously. They made more of an upgrade to the sound than buying speakers twice the price of what i already own. If you have any noise in your hifi, lack of dynamics, timing, separation, soundstage or harshness just try these cables cos they do something quite magic. Coupled with clearway rca, just amazing. They are expensive but considering the difference in sound quality they are the cheapest upgrade to the whole system pound for pound ive made.

I purchased this speaker cable along with a pair of the Chord Signature Jump cables for my centre speaker as a trial before I purchased cable for the rest of my 7.1 system.
I have the Bowers & Wilkins 702 S2 speaker range and have been using QED XT40 speaker cable (previously purchased from future-shop) connected to my Arcam AVR850. I just wish I had upgraded to the Chord Epic-X speaker cable a long long time ago!!! the difference in clarity is amazing and feel I haven't had the best from my speakers and now feel like I have a completely new upgraded centre stage to my system.
I would highly recommend these speaker cables, in my opinion they are much much better than my outgoing QED cables. I now just need to save up for the rest of the speakers to get the most from my system! Any review discount would be greatly appreciated and speed up my future purchase :)

I just wish I had upgraded to the Chord Epic-X speaker cable a long long time ago!!! the difference in clarity is amazing and feel I haven't had the best from my speakers and now feel like I have a completely new upgraded centre stage to my system.
I would highly recommend these speaker cables, in my opinion they are much much better than my outgoing QED cables. I now just need to save up for the rest of the speakers to get the most from my system! Any review discount would be greatly appreciated and speed up my future purchase :)

Upgraded chord clearway to these new Epic ‘X’ with the Ohmic bananas and trousers (always get tailored for sartorial elegance right?) as a treat to finish the year, and Future Shop even ran the cable kindly through my Speaker stand piping to ensure a classy finish.
From the get-go these just brought a totally new level of smoothness and depth to the whole listening experience. I have a Yamaha AS501 amp which has long been the weakest link in my setup and I’ve been procrastinating on what to do with it. Now they’ve burnt in for a couple of weeks I’m seriously considering if a new amp is really a priority any more. These cables are THAT good. More bass, but not in a stupid way - this is sophisticated, in that ‘get out the way and let the music flow’ kind of way.
The top end is just lovely and clean, vocals are “in the room” and the cables allow you to get down to some critical listening between sources, of that floats your boat too.
Expensive, not everyone’s priority but I’d recommend a listening test at the very least and it may just upend your perceptions as it did mine.
