Furutech Flow-8.1 NCF In-Line Power Filter
The Furutech Flow-8.1 NCF is an in-line AC filter for components that take a figure 8 (IEC C7) mains lead. It sits between your existing power cable and the component, so nothing in the system has to be replaced: the power cable plugs into the filter housing, and a short 60cm lead from the housing ends in a figure 8 plug that goes into the component. Furutech have built filters of this type for more than a decade, and the reasoning is that a system can only sound as clean as the electricity reaching it. Digital sources and switch-mode supplies both create and pick up high-frequency noise, and an in-line filter stops that noise getting into the component while also stopping noise generated inside it from spreading back into the mains and the rest of the system.
Filtering is handled by Furutech's AC-1501(R) EMI-filtering IEC inlet, a parallel network of an in-line coil and capacitors (2 x 0.3mH, Cx 0.1µF, Cy 3300pF) built into the inlet itself, with rhodium-plated Alpha non-magnetic copper alloy conductors and upgraded coils and capacitors. Furutech quote around 8dB of noise reduction at 100kHz, 14dB at 500kHz, 10dB at 1MHz and more than 30dB at 10MHz, the range where switching noise from digital equipment does most harm.

A cryogenic and demagnetising treatment
The Alpha Process combines cryogenic treatment with demagnetisation, and Furutech applies it to its alpha-treated pure copper. It sits alongside Ohno Continuous Cast single-crystal copper in the conductor line-up, so the Furutech catalogue includes more than one route to a pure copper conductor.

NCF material and interference absorption

A cryogenic and demagnetising treatment
The Alpha Process combines cryogenic treatment with demagnetisation, and Furutech applies it to its alpha-treated pure copper. It sits alongside Ohno Continuous Cast single-crystal copper in the conductor line-up, so the Furutech catalogue includes more than one route to a pure copper conductor.
Copper, silver and hybrid conductors
Furutech's materials include silver-plated copper and copper-silver hybrids as well as OCC and alpha-treated copper. DUCC and PC-Triple C copper appear in some of its cables. This range of conductors means the same plug design can be paired with different cable types.
NCF material and interference absorption
Furutech describes its NCF, short for Nano Crystal Formula, as generating negative ions and converting thermal energy into far infrared energy. It also uses a material called GC-303 to absorb electromagnetic interference. These are Furutech's own descriptions of what the materials are designed to do.

We use Royal Mail 1st Class services for our Standard Delivery.
Orders received before 4.30 pm Monday to Friday are usually dispatched the same day by FIRST CLASS post (unless premium postal or timed courier services are selected), subject to stock availability. Standard delivery is usually within 2 working days, although 98% of all orders are delivered the next working day including Saturdays. In extreme cases, such as delivery to the Highlands and Islands, this may take 3 days.
All items are fully insured and come with an invoice from Future Shop. We use the Royal Mail for delivery of small packages and DPD Local or DHL for items that weigh over 2KG. Items over 2KG are fully insured and will usually be delivered within 48 hours of placing your order subject to stock availability. For international orders, we use FedEx or DHL services where customers have selected this option.
