Gefen GTB-UHD600-28S-RT 1x8 HDMI Splitter for 4K HDR
The Gefen GTB-UHD600-18S-RT takes one 4K Ultra HD source and sends it to eight displays at the same time, at the full 600MHz, 18Gbps bandwidth of HDMI 2.0. It handles up to 4K DCI-Cinema and 4K Ultra HD at 60Hz with 4:4:4 colour, as well as 1080p and 1920 x 1200 WUXGA. It passes HDR (HDR10 and HLG) with 10-bit Deep Colour, at 4K 60Hz 4:2:0 and 4K 24Hz 4:4:4. Audio passes through untouched, including LPCM 7.1 and the lossless high bit rate formats: Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, DTS:X and DTS-HD Master Audio.
What sets it apart from a basic splitter is that every output has its own scaler. An ordinary splitter in a mixed installation has to drop the whole system to whatever the weakest display can handle, so a single older 1080p screen pulls all eight down. Here, each output scales independently, automatically downscaling 4K to 1080p for a Full HD display while the 4K screens keep their full resolution. A built-in HDR-to-SDR conversion does the same job for displays that can't show HDR.
It's designed for large video distribution and digital signage. Gefen support more than ten layers of cascading, one splitter feeding others, so a single source can reach hundreds of displays. Smart CEC management talks to the source, other compatible splitters and the displays, making sure screens are switched on and set to the right input so there is always a picture. It also includes an IP-to-CEC bridge for control systems. A built-in 1080p test pattern generator, which also shows the unit's MAC address, makes installation and routine checks much quicker.
Control and setup are installer-friendly. It has IP control over Telnet and UDP from the Ethernet port, which can also cascade to compatible splitters, and a Mini-USB port that works as a virtual serial port for configuration and firmware updates. Advanced EDID management and audio mode selection let you integrate sources and displays quickly, and Gefen's Syner-G software finds the unit on the network automatically. It supports HDCP 2.2 and 1.4, 3D and lip-sync pass-through, and DVI sources and displays with adapters. Power comes from the supplied 5V locking supply, drawing 13W. The low-profile enclosure can be surface mounted.

KVM switches share one set of controls

Extenders and switchers move signals around a building
Gefen's extenders carry audio and video beyond the reach of a standard cable, and its matrix switchers route several sources to several screens. Splitters and scalers sit alongside them. Support for 4K, 8K and HDBaseT depends on the model, so check the specification.
KVM switches share one set of controls
A KVM switch lets you operate several computers from one keyboard, mouse and display. Gefen includes KVM over IP models, which extend that control across a network, so the computer and the person using it do not need to be in the same room.
