About Heed Audio
Founded by acoustics engineer Zsolt Huszti in Budapest, Heed have been making some of the most musically engaging hi-fi gear since the company’s inception. Interestingly Heed has a strong connection with the UK Hi Fi space, in Zsolt’s formative years he and his older brother Alpar were the importer and distributor of some of the UK’s most loved brands into Hungary, including AudioLab, Ion Systems, Rega, Royd, Roksan, Spendor to name but a few. Over time Zsolt and his team even built and assembled products in Hungary for a number of those brands. As the communist regime in Hungary crumbled, the brothers importation business transitioned into being a manufacturer and designer of their own audio equipment, and Heed Audio was born. One of its first products, the Orbit turntable PSU was a huge success as an upgrade to turntables that use a 110v 4 pole AC motor; Rega and Linn for example.
The Orbit is still in production today, proving good design can really last and stand the test of time. Every unit is hand built, tested, and listened to before it leaves the factory, there is something really comforting and perhaps “old-school” in the craftsman approach to everything that they do. The Thesis range is built from separate components
Thesis includes the Alpha preamplifier, with two analogue and four digital inputs, and the Phi phono preamplifier for moving magnet and moving coil cartridges. The Pi is a dual power supply, and the Omega is a monoblock amplifier rated at up to 160W.
The Omega uses AC coupling
Heed says the AC-coupled design of the Omega gives a more natural decay of notes. This is the maker's own description of its design choice. If you want a monoblock for a larger system, check the specification and the impedance of your speakers.
Separates let you build up a system
