Having installed the QED cable and found that it gave a very worthwhile improvement (I have also reviewed this product – take a look) I thought I would try the QSA LAN Jitters Yellow.
Now, for me, QSA products are definitely straying into ‘snake oil’ territory and I approached their audition with a good deal of scepticism and no expectations at all. So, what did I find?
I would categorise the improvement – and there was an improvement – as more of the same as the cable upgrade: a tidier sound at the frequency extremes (less ‘flappy’ bass; more controlled sibilants), more intelligible vocals, better separation and layering of sounds and a further notch up in ‘authoritativeness’ and the ‘in the room’ quality. These improvements were less marked than with the cable upgrade but taken together (i.e. cable plus LAN Jitters) these were changes that I wanted to keep.
One last comment I would make – and it does not detract from their performance – is that QSA really need to up their game with the product presentation. The product itself looks like it came from a Christmas cracker: they were demarked from the more expensive models by a ‘Y’ applied with a marker pen, the boxes they came in are clearly intended for some other purpose and the branding is via little sticky labels! It’s true that these items are hidden from view but of ‘pride of ownership’ there is none.

I would not hesitate to use the LAN jitter yellow if price is an issue.
As a must in my opinion, you need to buy the send and receive to really make your system sing.
I would say so far, this was the biggest improvement to my system from QSA.
How wrong I was. It got better out of the box, not just on the Hi-Fi side but also on the TV streaming side. It just produces a more intense, deeper sound/picture from top to bottom, smoother, weightier, and pacier.
Two weeks on, and it is better still, just slightly more of the same. This is my third different QSA product, and they absolutely deliver.
The two-day delivery was also great service.
I was, initially, both sceptical and curious to know if it could make any noticeable change to the quality of streaming sound (via a MacBook Pro M1), especially as it is just between the patch cable from the fibre broadband outlet and the wireless router (I have to use wireless). I was persuaded to try one by Steve at Futureshop, and after treatment with DeOxit gold, I found that immediately, instruments sounded more natural and analogue in quality; stereo imaging was more solid, and this was just on a radio three HD (320kbps) broadcast!
Hi res streaming is now more lifelike, highly focussed and engaging, indistinguishable from CD or SACD. Further improvement was made by replacing the standard 2m patch cable with an Audioquest carbon LAN RJ/E 45 (separate review, but the two help each other).
I can’t explain why the science of wireless transfer should improve so much, but my ears tell me it most definitely does.
Try it for yourself if, like me, you can’t run a high-quality ethernet cable from your router to your streamer or laptop/computer. Try it even if you can. If you don’t agree, you can always take advantage of the 60-day returns policy…
