AudioQuest CAT7 Pearl RJ/E Ethernet Cable Custom
Built with Solid Long-Grain Copper and 100% shielded gold-plated connectors, AudioQuest's CAT7 Pearl allows 10G ethernet over up to 100 metres. Unlike the CAT6, each signal pair in the CAT7 is insulated from the others, allowing it to achieve a higher grading. This cable delivers excellent performance for streaming audio or video, and as always provides a more reliable connection than wi-fi.

Hard-Cell Foam Insulation :
Hard-Cell Foam (HCF) Insulation ensures critical signal-pair geometry. Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit board materials all absorb energy. Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Hard-Cell Foam Insulation is similar to the Foamed-PE used in our more affordable Bridges & Falls cables, and is nitrogen-injected to create air pockets. Because nitrogen (like air) does not absorb energy and therefore does not release any energy from or into the conductor, distortion is reduced. In addition, the stiffness of the material allows the cable's conductors to maintain a stable relationship along the cable's full length, producing a stable impedance character and further minimizing distortion.

Arrows are clearly marked on the connectors to ensure superior sound quality. For best results have the arrow pointing in the direction of the flow of music. Yeah love it, what’s next?
Did it make any difference? Well, surprisingly yes. Download and upload are slightly quicker, but the sound difference is what I was after, and yes, subtle but worth doing, certainly.
The sound truly is brighter and so much better.
I agree with a previous reviewer that it is quite difficult to bend around objects/corners as it is not overly supple, but I wanted a reassuringly "strong" cable for the distance needed. I believe this is an improvement in quality over the previous option.
On listening tests, it was no surprise that this opened up soundstage clarity and a rock-solid transmission over a basic Ethernet cable.
Highly recommended.

I noticed the difference straight away. Speed and bandwidth increase.
There’s nothing wrong with the cable sonically. I have previously routed the cable under the floor, so its short-comings were not apparent. This time I’m using it above ground, so its relative stiffness is very apparent, meaning routing around furniture, along skirting boards etc. is not so easy. Lots of shielding adds bulk and stiffness.
It’s a great cable, but drops a point for its seemingly unavoidable rigidity.
I have the non-custom variant between my BT OND box and the Hub 2.
Despite having a WiFi link in the chain, this made a noticeable improvement in sound quality over a generic CAT5e and the BT CAT 6 cable.
In my quite resolving setup, there was a welcome sense of space, air and separation of instruments. Sounds such as distorted guitars, cellos, and pianos are more resolved with less dryness.
The custom cable is thicker and stiffer than my proprietary AQ Pearl, which is prone to linking, so I may upgrade that next!

I think that this was a worthwhile improvement for a relatively low cost. I ordered the cable from the Futureshop on the weekend, and it arrived the following Tuesday morning. I am very satisfied.
Thought after reading the reviews that they might be worth a punt ....JUST DO IT ....such an upgrade for so little cash ! The noise floor has been lowered when streaming over my LAN and my TV no longer buffers when I select a streamed show ...cracking !
