Since all current that enters a power cable or component in your system must pass through the fuse before it proceeds, the fuse's quality or lack thereof can drastically affect your system's performance. Much of this may sound outrageous, but only to those who have not heard it for themselves. - Cable Compatibility: We regret to inform you that we cannot burn-in cables with stripped bare ends or BFA plugs. In order for cables to undergo the burn-in process, they should be terminated or have connectors.
- Timing: Cables will be burnt in for the selected period after processing your order. For custom-length cables, the burn-in process will occur after they have been terminated by the manufacturer or our engineers unless specified otherwise in the product description.
- Availability: Future Shop provides our cable burn-in service free of charge, but its availability is at our discretion. While we strive to fulfil all burn-in requests for the specified time periods, please understand that during exceptionally busy periods, we may be unable to meet the demand due to limited connections on the Nordost Vidar cable conditioning machines.

Dynamics have been turbocharged, bass is much deeper and tighter. Voices are now huge, as is the soundstage!
I also have 2 Jitter plugs/fuses that are being burnt-in on the Vinyl side to turbo charge my TT setup with extra help from the jitters, we shall see!
More jitters and fuses are on the table. This is money better spent than on components.
After 300 hours, I am still hearing changes, it's like listening to an upgrade FOC!
Mind you my first Yellow has settled down now after 800 hours with the Violet taking I guess around 1000 hours. My second Yellow is yet to be reviewed.

From this swapping process, I have probably reached the sweet spot for my system, but to repeat my other reviews, these little fuses are excellent value in a good system despite my initial scepticism.
If you listen with high-resolution headphones or via your system, the improvement is obvious. Incidentally, I have heard the SR Purple and preferred the QSA because it is more natural and has a direction arrow to avoid the faff of multiple dismantling of Furutech plugs.
At first glance, £600 odd for a fuse seems expensive, but having auditioned many interconnects and components in a good system, I would consider this fuse to yield greater improvement than a £1500 interconnect or an additional £2000 on an upgraded component.
In summary, this fuse is of good value if you have a high-quality resolving system.
I can only imagine what the QSA fuses higher up the range can achieve in a summit-fi system!
Futureshop are an excellent combination of online convenience coupled with enthusiasm, patience and knowledge.
So fuse upgrades can’t possibly improve things further? I again dabbled with (name excluded) cheaper fuses and, even after burn in, they made the sound way too “HIFI”, either strident treble or a loudness button boost, so not for me but reading reviews, I gave a last chance to a QSA Yellow with Futureshop burn-in and moved it around components.
This changed my view completely: the sound was clearer, more insightful, and musical, with great timbre, without affecting the system's character at all. Following some excellent advice from Mark, I purchased a QSA Violet and put it in the cable feeding the power block from a Furutech Rhodium NCF wall socket, and my jaw dropped - easily double the improvement of the Yellow. I have no idea why this is so, but whatever it is, the value proposition stacks up. Whilst over £600 for a fuse initially seems bonkers, the improvement is much better than a more expensive interconnect or component upgrade. Improvement has also continued as things settle.
My scepticism has been completely dispelled, and while I would love to roll out more Violet fuses, I will keep the Violet feeding the power block and have already started to roll out Yellows for the components.
Financially, this makes sense, but I may still waver on another Violet…….!
I already have quite an extensive QSA "estate": light blues for my digital components (Innuos streamer and USB regenerator; 10MHz clock; Uptone EtherRegen), purple mains and yellow internal IEC for my Hegel amp, and a red double wall plate.
To be honest, I'm not entirely convinced that the QSA products offer many benefits for purely digital components. I admit I haven't been thorough in my A/B testing, but after much swapping around over recent years, I've never had any sense of benefit in this area. Saying that, any component with an analogue stage benefits to such an extent that I would recommend QSA products without hesitation. My Hegel integrated amp and my Gustard DAC are included in this. I would expect anyone with a pre-, power- or phono-amp to benefit equally.
Hands down, the QSA red wall plate is the best thing I've bought (just wish I'd bought the red/black now). What surprised me the most though, was plugging my DAC directly into it rather than into my Isotek block. The Isotek is now plugged into a normal wall socket and feeds the digital components listed above. Based on this shock discovery with my DAC I've gone on to upgrading my DAC's mains plug fuse from light blue to purple - a significant investment for an £1600 DAC.
Again, improvements are very tangible, but they are mostly in the areas of ease, texture, timbre, dynamics, bass definition, and, most importantly, musicality.
I wasn't sure if I should also upgrade the internal IEC fuse also - to yellow (probably). I'm now absolutely sure I will at some point.
I started with a Yellow on my Chord Powerhaus S6 replacing an SR Orange at a similar price point. All I can say is that for my system, it lowered the noise floor considerably, letting more detail through across the frequency range BUT providing a more natural and organic sound and maintaining/improving the sense of presence, rhythm and timing I am used to. I took the plunge over the next four weeks and added more Yellows to the power supplies to my Streamer, Preamp and Poweramp - Better and Better, although diminishing returns.
I then decided to try a Purple on my block and move the Yellow to my Melco N10. WOW!! - Noise floor lowered substantially - soundstage widened, deepened - fantastic upgrade. This was before I put the Yellow in the N10, which improved clarity, especially vocals, but again maintained my system's characteristics.
I listen on average 3 hours per day across the week, so they are now well bedded in with most of the usual running-in issues sorted within three days. Listening pleasure has increased dramatically (which was high to start with ).
How they do it is beyond me. God only knows what the top-of-the-line fuse will do, BUT common sense would say you need to balance outlay across your hardware, cables etc. I pushed the boat with the purple on a £1250 power cord feeding a £1k block - Also, bear in mind this is all on a £50k plus system.
Next step! Maybe to try the Orange on the block and experiment with the purple to see which part of the chain benefits the most - when funds allow, that is! Remember what I said at the start - Slippery Slope!!
If you're starting new and use a distribution block, then I would start there. I have previously used three other HIFI fuse makes, and this is by far the more natural-sounding of them all - usual caveats - my system, my room, my Ears!
