Van Den Hul The CS-122 Hybrid Speaker Cable - Custom Length
This twin lead loudspeaker cable is the twin version of the CS - 12 HF. Main aim is to provide a high quality flat twin lead cable at a low price. The 2 conductors are made of 147 strands of 0.16 mm. diameter high purity Matched Crystal OFC with a very dense pure silver coating. Each conductor exhibits a cross-section area of 2.96 mm, equalling AWG 12.5. Covering the two conductors you find an extra Linear Structured Carbon ® saturated layer to improve the sonic performance and to transform the radiated magnetic field into an audio-signal again. The resistance per lead is: 0.58 Ohm/100 meter. The capacitance between the 2 leads is: 32 pF/meter. The cable jacket is made of our HULLIFLEX ® 3, a very flexible and mechanically superb insulation material. The insulation of the plus and minus leads is different in shape with printing in the flat middle section. Both properties are easy polarity finders. Type printing on every 25 cm. (10") makes cutting of specified lengths very easy. This cable is available in a very attractive matt cream colour. Our 4.0 mm. Carbon as a conductor material
Linear Structured Carbon, or LSC, is Van den Hul's patented conductor technology, and it has its own cable line. It sits apart from copper and silver designs, which gives the carbon cables a different construction from most of the cables you may be comparing them with.
Fusion, hybrid and multi-metal conductors
The Fusion series uses Fusion Technology conductor material, and the Hybrid collection covers cables that combine materials. 3T, or True Transmission Technology, is a multi-metal conductor design. Van den Hul also lists Tunnel Technology among its cable technologies. Together these give you several constructions to choose from within the catalogue, not a single conductor type.
Cartridges as well as cables
Van den Hul also makes moving coil cartridges. The range includes The Colibri, The Condor, The Crimson, The Canary, The Grasshopper and the Frog series. A vinyl listener can therefore choose a cartridge and the cables to go with it from the same maker.
Why we stock Van den Hul
Van den Hul have used Linear Structured Carbon as a conductor since long before carbon became fashionable, which gives their cables a character you will not find in copper or silver designs. They were already well established in Europe when we took them on in 2007, and they remain one of the genuinely different voices we carry.
New cables (even high-quality ones) benefit from a period of signal conditioning before reaching their optimum performance. The dielectric (insulation) around the conductors needs time to stabilise under the electromagnetic field created by signal flow. Rather than leaving this to you, we run cables on our Nordost Vidar burn-in machine before dispatch, up to the equivalent of 200 hours of use, in a fraction of the time. Your cable arrives performance-ready from the first listen.

Orders received before 4.30 pm Monday to Friday are usually dispatched the same day by FIRST CLASS post (unless premium postal or timed courier services are selected), subject to stock availability. This does not apply to custom-length cables and speaker cables as these require a longer timescale to terminate. This also excludes all cables selected for the burn-in service. Please note, we do not process orders on national holidays in the UK. Over 98% of our orders are delivered the next working day including Saturdays.
Standard delivery is usually within 2 working days, although 98% of all orders are delivered the next working day including Saturdays. In extreme cases, such as delivery to the Highlands and Islands, this may take 3 days.
All items are fully insured and come with an invoice from Future Shop. We use the Royal Mail for delivery of small packages and DPD Local or DHL for items that weigh over 2KG. Items over 2KG are fully insured and will usually be delivered within 48 hours of placing your order subject to stock availability. For international orders, we use FedEx or DHL services where customers have selected this option.

European Countries

- Cable Compatibility: We regret to inform you that we cannot burn-in cables with stripped bare ends or BFA plugs. In order for cables to undergo the burn-in process, they should be terminated or have connectors.
- Timing: Cables will be burnt in for the selected period after processing your order. For custom-length cables, the burn-in process will occur after they have been terminated by the manufacturer or our engineers unless specified otherwise in the product description.
- Availability: Future Shop provides our cable burn-in service free of charge, but its availability is at our discretion. While we strive to fulfil all burn-in requests for the specified time periods, please understand that during exceptionally busy periods, we may be unable to meet the demand due to limited connections on the Nordost Vidar cable conditioning machines.
The Nordost VIDAR cable burn-in machine integrates three key functions into one operation:
- Charge Neutralisation: It eliminates charges that accumulate around the cables and their insulation, ensuring a more balanced electrical environment.
- Deep Conditioning: The machine provides a wide band and deep conditioning process that affects the conductor core, resulting in changes to the signal transmission through the metal. This deep conditioning enhances the cable's performance.
- Ultrasonic Surface Conditioning: The VIDAR machine utilizes ultrasonic waves to condition the surface of the conductors, optimizing their contact and overall conductivity.
The VIDAR employs a proprietary combination of composite and complex signals to condition the cables. Cartridges as well as cables
Van den Hul also makes moving coil cartridges. The range includes The Colibri, The Condor, The Crimson, The Canary, The Grasshopper and the Frog series. A vinyl listener can therefore choose a cartridge and the cables to go with it from the same maker.

Van den Hul have used Linear Structured Carbon as a conductor since long before carbon became fashionable, which gives their cables a character you will not find in copper or silver designs. They were already well established in Europe when we took them on in 2007, and they remain one of the genuinely different voices we carry.
New cables (even high-quality ones) benefit from a period of signal conditioning before reaching their optimum performance. The dielectric (insulation) around the conductors needs time to stabilise under the electromagnetic field created by signal flow. Rather than leaving this to you, we run cables on our Nordost Vidar burn-in machine before dispatch, up to the equivalent of 200 hours of use, in a fraction of the time. Your cable arrives performance-ready from the first listen.

All items are fully insured and come with an invoice from Future Shop. We use the Royal Mail for delivery of small packages and DPD Local or DHL for items that weigh over 2KG. Items over 2KG are fully insured and will usually be delivered within 48 hours of placing your order subject to stock availability. For international orders, we use FedEx or DHL services where customers have selected this option.

European Countries

From there, a couple of weeks of music will complete the burn-in process. One point worth mentioning is that this is a relatively flexible speaker cable, which makes it much easier to run around the perimeter of your listening room than other, stiffer, cables (such as some Chord Company cables).
The highs and mids are smooth and with autority, Great cable !!!
I did not expect to hear much difference, but I tried these Van Den Hull cables with my old DynAudio speakers (which are already pretty good). The difference is striking: I hear new, improved, tight, well-defined, voluminous low register ( and I already have an excellent REL subwoofer), the spatial definition is much better, the sound definition is better, and the high-end register is so transparent.
Music, TV, and streaming sound have an effortless quality. There are sounds that I didn't hear in my favourite pieces before.
I am very pleasantly surprised and am enjoying my "new" sound even before my new speakers arrive.

FutureShop burnt in the VDH CS122 for 24 hours and I think this worked. My memory of the original VDH CS122 I bought was that it sounded a bit bright and lacking bass at the beginning and needed a bit of time to bed-in.
I would recommend that you use the burn-in service provided by FutureShop if you can wait. Excellent speaker cable and highly recommended.
