It has long been known that the quality of mains power can have a dramatic effect on the high fidelity performance of audio systems. The delivery of quality power as well as the containment and robustness of the supply to conductor/air borne interference are now a critical part of most if not all product design strategies. Atlas set out to deliver a high performance, audiophile standard screened power lead that can improve the performance of the majority of HiFi systems.

The Eos 4.0em power cable utilises high purity OFC conductors, high efficiency stable PVC dielectrics as well as a new carbon loaded hybrid screening process. This allows the new Eos em cable series to deliver exceptional fidelity and superior protection against the threat of Rf radiation. The Eos em screen acts as a critical filter against harmful incoming Rf a.c. power contamination, it dumps these airborne and electromagnetic disturbance effects rapidly to earth via the Atlas dual drain system employed in the latest generation Atlas cables.

Minimising the effects of series resistance is critical for efficient power delivery. The Eos em series screened power cables confront this issue in two ways, the first being the availability of various sizes (cross sectional area) of conductor (1.5mm2 (Eos dd), 2.5mm2, (Eos 2.5em), 4.0mm2 (Eos 4.0em), The second being the reduction in contact resistance at the plug/socket interface which is accomplished by polished surfaces and deep silver plated contacts.

By comparison, a typical domestic power lead lacks the quality of component parts, screening layers, dual drain system and anti-vibration treatment that Atlas employs in Eos. Atlas Eos products are best used as part of a complete Eos Power Management System for maximum effectiveness.

Oxygen Free Copper (OFC)

OFC is produced through an extrusion process which takes place in an oxygen-free-inert-gas atmosphere. This leads to a reduced oxygen content (10 ppm) when compared to Tough Pitch Copper (TPC) and an improvement in conductivity which typically measures in at between 0.5% and 2% greater than TPC. The OFC process therefore produces a much higher quality audio cable than the TPC process. High purity conductors sound clearer than their unprocessed (TPC) counterparts because there are fewer crystal boundaries present to cause signal degradation.

Atlas DD (Dual Drain) System

Normally screened cables suffer from screen distortion when they are prepared for production. (If you've ever wired a plug or connector which uses a screened cable, you've done this yourself, cutting back and probably twisting the screening braid for termination). This distortion of the screen has a measurable impact, effectively changing the impedance and therefore the performance of the cable.

Atlas' ‘dd’ configuration is based on a simplified version of the techniques they developed for their top-of-the-range Mavros and Asimi interconnects. Twin symmetrical drain wires (each attached to 180° segments of the plug) are inserted between a 100% copper/Mylar™ foil and screen. The unique dd system connects the screen effectively to the cable return/plug interface, meaning the cable can be terminated without distorting, twisting or mechanically stressing the precision-laid screen. The benefits are in maintaining a consistent low impedance load to the plug, and a total 360° screening against noise and signal loss caused by RFI (Radio Frequency Interference).

All items are fully insured and come with an invoice from Future Shop. We use the Royal Mail for delivery of small packages and DPD Local or DHL for items that weigh over 2KG. Items over 2KG are fully insured and will usually be delivered within 48 hours of placing your order subject to stock availability. For international orders, we use FedEx or DHL services where customers have selected this option.

European Countries

Yes. Longer cables or high-current components benefit from thicker conductors (e.g., 2.5mm² or 12AWG) to maintain low resistance and voltage stability.

A power block is the simplest solution. It distributes mains power safely to multiple components, often with improved internal wiring and better mechanical stability than standard extension leads. A power conditioner goes further by filtering electrical noise and interference present on the mains supply. This can lower the noise floor and help systems sound cleaner and more controlled, especially in electrically noisy homes. A power regenerator actively rebuilds the incoming mains supply into a new, stable waveform before feeding your system. Regenerators are typically used in higher-resolution systems where maximum consistency, stability, and noise reduction are required.

Standard power cables are designed to meet safety regulations at low cost, not to optimise audio performance. Upgraded power cables use higher-quality conductors, improved shielding, and better connectors to reduce interference and improve current delivery. In resolving systems, this can result in clearer detail, improved dynamics, and a more stable soundstage. While the effect varies by system, power cables often become more beneficial as the overall quality of the equipment increases.

Dedicated power supplies or upgraded DC supplies are most commonly used with low-voltage digital equipment such as streamers, DACs, routers, and network switches. These components are particularly sensitive to electrical noise from standard switch-mode power supplies. Upgrading the DC supply can improve timing, clarity, and background quietness. These upgrades tend to be most effective once the core system is already well balanced and you are aiming for refinement rather than a dramatic tonal change.

Clean mains power matters to both digital and analogue systems, but in different ways. Digital equipment can be affected by electrical noise that impacts timing, clarity, and perceived smoothness. Analogue equipment, especially turntables and phono stages, is sensitive to noise and interference that can mask low-level detail. Improving power quality can help systems sound more composed, quieter, and more consistent. The more revealing the system, the more noticeable the benefits of cleaner power tend to be.

For most systems, speakers, headphones, and core electronics deliver the biggest initial improvements. Power upgrades are usually most rewarding once the system fundamentals are already strong. That said, if you are experiencing noise, hum, or inconsistency, addressing power can bring immediate benefits. Power upgrades work best as part of a wider system approach rather than as a standalone fix.

All cables matter, and your system will require good quality cables for all of it's connections, however, if you were looking for the cable which will make the biggest difference, then we would recommend looking at the power cables from your wall socket, to your distribution block and/or amplifier. More often than not, we hear from customers, manufacturers, and our own tests that higher quality power cables can have a significant impact of the quality of your system.

This depends on the components being powered and the levels of noise within your local mains connections. There is equipment available to measure the noise in your mains, however, one of the easiest ways is to try a power conditioner for your source components and hear if there is any difference during your listening. If there is minimal to no difference, then a good quality power block may be your best option.
