Hana MH High Output Cartridge
The Hana MH Cartridge delivers high-output Moving Coil performance using a standard Moving Magnet phono stage, bringing audiophile sound quality to a wider range of systems. Its Micro-Line stylus, shaped to mirror the original cutting head used in LP production, fits deeply into vinyl grooves to retrieve subtle musical details with enhanced frequency response and reduced distortion. Built from high-grade Delrin (POM), the cartridge body offers low resonance and superior structural integrity. An integrated gold-plated copper resonance plate further minimizes unwanted vibrations for a purer signal.
Internally, cryogenically treated components in the magnetic circuit including yokes and wires enhance signal accuracy by reducing internal stress at the molecular level. The MH model features high-quality copper wiring in its coils, producing a clearer, more lifelike sound. With a 2.0mV output at 1kHz, it’s ideal for MM-compatible systems. Captive threaded nuts in the cartridge body simplify mounting on tonearm headshells, ensuring a secure and hassle-free installation. With a 2-year guarantee and a convenient new-for-old replacement service, the Hana MH combines advanced engineering and long-term value. It's a compelling choice for vinyl enthusiasts seeking premium performance in a user-friendly format.

About Hana
Handmade moving coil cartridges from Japan, offered in a ladder of stylus and output options.
Hana cartridges are made by Excel Sound Corporation in Tokyo, and are handmade in Japan. The range covers both high and low output moving coil designs, so you can match one to a moving magnet or a moving coil phono stage. Models are organised in tiers, with the stylus shape and the cantilever material changing as you move up.
Read more about HanaShow less
The tiers are defined by stylus shape
The E models use an elliptical stylus, the S models a Shibata nude diamond and the M models a Microline nude diamond. The flagship Umami Red uses a boron cantilever. Each step up changes the stylus profile, which affects how closely it follows the groove.
High and low output versions are offered
Hana's high-output versions, marked H, produce 2.0mV and suit moving magnet phono stages. The low-output versions, marked L, produce 0.5mV, and the ML is 0.4mV. The right match depends on the gain your phono stage provides, so check the output before you order.
Construction uses aluminium and cross-shaped armatures
Hana cartridges use aluminium cantilevers and cross-shaped armatures. The ML and MH models have threaded mounting holes, a frequency range of 12Hz to 45kHz and a recommended tracking force of 2g. Always check the weight and compliance against your tonearm.
