Little Fwend Automatic Tonearm Lifter
A manual turntable does not stop itself. When the record ends, the stylus continues to trace the locked groove, and if nobody is paying attention, it carries on doing so for however long it takes for someone to notice. With an expensive cartridge, that is an unpleasant thought. With a fragile cantilever and a turntable on the other side of the room, it is a genuinely bad outcome. The Little Fwend is the considered solution: a fully mechanical automatic tonearm lifter that raises the arm smoothly and reliably at the end of a record, without electronics, without interfering with the signal path, and without any modification to the turntable.
The mechanism is beautifully simple. The Little Fwend mounts to the turntable surface via a magnetic base, with a small metal disc adhered to a flat, unobstructed area between the platter edge and the tonearm base. An adjustable trigger antenna sits in the path of the tonearm. As the arm reaches the run-out groove, it brushes the antenna, which releases the lifting mechanism and raises the tonearm clear of the record surface. There is no electrical connection, no motor, no software. The damping gel used in the mechanism is a fluorocarbon compound also used in aerospace applications, chosen for its resistance to drying or migrating over decades of use.
Designed by Lasse Gretland in Oslo, Norway, machined to precision tolerances in Switzerland and Denmark, and individually hand-assembled and tested before leaving the workshop, the Little Fwend has been sold to more than 5,000 customers since 2016. Four models cover the range: the Low Mk2 and High Mk2 for the majority of turntable brands, a Disco Mk3 custom-designed for the Technics SL-1200 and SL-1300 family, and a Low Mk2 with P8/P10 Mount for Rega P8, P10, and Naia owners where the skeletal plinth creates a mounting challenge. A serious turntable is almost always manual. Little Fwend is mounted on your turntable and set up to trigger a lifting mechanism that raises your tonearm and stylus above the surface of the record after the music inevitably fades out. It is 100% mechanical and will not affect the audio signal in any way. Little Fwend has provided customers with peace of mind since 2016. Some use rare or expensive cartridges they want to keep from unnecessary wear, others just think the sound of the run-out groove is annoying to wake up to. The precious diamond at the end of the cantilever has a useful life of 1,000-2,000 hours before it needs to be retipped. There is no point in wearing this out prematurely if you can easily avoid it.
Which model do I need?
Low Mk2: The original model, now in its second generation. Suits most turntables with standard-thickness platters, including Rega, Linn, Thorens, Pro-Ject, and MoFi Electronics. Designed for tonearms that sit 32-49mm above the mounting surface when the stylus is in the groove. Over 3,500 Low models have been sold since 2016.
High Mk2: A Low Mk2 with two magnetically attached extender bases, extending the height range to 32-94mm. The correct choice for turntables with thicker platters where the tonearm sits higher, including VPI, Clearaudio, Dr. Feickert, Kuzma, and McIntosh. Over 2,000 High models have been sold since 2016.
Low Mk2 with P8/P10 Mount: A Low Mk2 bundled with a limited edition aluminium mounting platform, custom machined to bridge the circular opening in the arm brace of the Rega P8, P10, and Naia skeletal plinth. Also fits all other Rega models from the P3 upwards, as the 44mm arm brace opening is consistent across the range. If you already own a Low Mk2, the P8/P10 Mount is available separately. This is an unofficial product with no affiliation to Rega.
Disco Mk3: Custom designed exclusively for the Technics SL-1200 and SL-1300 family. Fits every variant from the 1979 SL-1200 Mk2 through to the current G, GR, GR2, GAE, and GME high-end models. All share an identical armboard geometry, so one model covers the entire Technics range.

About Little Fwend
Little Fwend was founded by Lasse Gretland in Oslo, Norway, after failing to find a tonearm lifter on the market that met the standard he felt the product deserved. Seven prototypes and several years of development later, the first Little Fwend shipped in 2016. The product is designed, hand-assembled, and individually tested in Oslo, with precision components machined in Switzerland and Denmark to tolerances tighter than any comparable product. The fluorocarbon damping gel, the neodymium magnet specification, the magnetic mounting system, and the mechanism geometry are all the result of deliberate engineering choices rather than convenience. More than 5,000 units have been sold worldwide across four models. Little Fwend has received unqualified recommendations from Stereophile and Fidelity Magazine, among others.

We use Royal Mail 1st Class services for our Standard Delivery.
Orders received before 4.30 pm Monday to Friday are usually dispatched the same day by FIRST CLASS post (unless premium postal or timed courier services are selected), subject to stock availability. This does not apply to custom-length cables and speaker cables as these require a longer timescale to terminate. This also excludes all cables selected for the burn-in service. Please note, we do not process orders on national holidays in the UK. Over 98% of our orders are delivered the next working day including Saturdays.
Standard delivery is usually within 2 working days, although 98% of all orders are delivered the next working day including Saturdays. In extreme cases, such as delivery to the Highlands and Islands, this may take 3 days.
All items are fully insured and come with an invoice from Future Shop. We use the Royal Mail for delivery of small packages and DPD Local or DHL for items that weigh over 2KG. Items over 2KG are fully insured and will usually be delivered within 48 hours of placing your order subject to stock availability. For international orders, we use FedEx or DHL services where customers have selected this option.

European Countries
Deliveries to EU member states are not subject to 20% VAT after December 31st 2020 and therefore the 20% VAT on items is automatically deducted when you log-in, register or proceed to place an order.

The fluorocarbon damping gel, the neodymium magnet specification, the magnetic mounting system, and the mechanism geometry are all the result of deliberate engineering choices rather than convenience. We use Royal Mail 1st Class services for our Standard Delivery.
Orders received before 4.30 pm Monday to Friday are usually dispatched the same day by FIRST CLASS post (unless premium postal or timed courier services are selected), subject to stock availability. This does not apply to custom-length cables and speaker cables as these require a longer timescale to terminate. This also excludes all cables selected for the burn-in service. Please note, we do not process orders on national holidays in the UK. Over 98% of our orders are delivered the next working day including Saturdays.
Standard delivery is usually within 2 working days, although 98% of all orders are delivered the next working day including Saturdays. In extreme cases, such as delivery to the Highlands and Islands, this may take 3 days.
All items are fully insured and come with an invoice from Future Shop. We use the Royal Mail for delivery of small packages and DPD Local or DHL for items that weigh over 2KG. Items over 2KG are fully insured and will usually be delivered within 48 hours of placing your order subject to stock availability. For international orders, we use FedEx or DHL services where customers have selected this option.
Please note, special orders for non-standard cable lengths may be subject to longer deliver time-scales. This may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Special Delivery UK - Guaranteed Next Working Day
We have 99.9% of the UK covered With Royal Mail Next Day Special Delivery. We guarantee delivery to most UK addresses by 1pm the next working day. This includes Northern Ireland, Jersey and Guernsey. Some places take longer to deliver to but we still guarantee delivery within three working days by 5.30 PM.
For the Next Day Special Delivery service, orders must be received by Future Shop by 4.30pm weekdays. Orders after the 4.30pm deadline cannot be guaranteed for same day dispatch.
Please note, Royal Mail Special Delivery for next working day may not be possible where non-standard cable lengths are ordered. If this is the case, the item will be shipped via The Royal Mail Special Delivery service as soon as the cable is custom made.
For orders weighing over 2KG, we reserve the right to ship items using Next Day Pre-Noon Courier Services where Royal Mail Special Delivery option has been selected.
Channel Islands & Northern Ireland
We accept orders from all Channel Islands including Alderney, Jersey, Guernsey and Sark. Unless you select a premium service, Items weighing under 2KG are delivered using our standard UK delivery option above. For items weighing over 2KG, a surcharge may be applied for all deliveries to the Channel Islands as well as Northern Ireland.
European Countries
Deliveries to EU member states are not subject to 20% VAT after December 31st 2020 and therefore the 20% VAT on items is automatically deducted when you log-in, register or proceed to place an order.
The customer will be liable for the VAT at the local VAT rate, duty on the import and the brokerage service fee if applicable. This may need to be paid in advance to your local Customs & Excise office or the delivery company before your order can be delivered.
