QED Performance Ethernet Cable
The QED Performance Ethernet is a network cable built for the job most network cables are never designed around: delivering high-resolution music to a streamer. More and more systems now get their music over the home network rather than from disc, and the cable between the router or switch and the streamer is the last link in that chain. QED built this one to the CAT6 FTP specification, with a rated bandwidth of 250MHz, and rate it for hi-res audio streams including 24-bit/192kHz and DSD1024.
The construction is better than standard patch cable throughout. The conductors are 99.999% oxygen-free copper at 24AWG, a larger cross-section than many thin patch leads use, arranged in twisted pairs. Each pair is twisted at a different rate, an asymmetric pattern that stops neighbouring pairs from coupling into each other and reduces crosstalk. A full HDPE spacer runs down the centre of the cable, holding the four pairs in fixed positions so that their geometry stays stable along the whole length, which reduces skew between the two conductors within each pair. The FTP construction adds an overall foil shield around the pairs to keep external interference out.
The details finish it properly. The 8P8C RJ45 plugs are gold-plated and shielded, so the cable's screening continues right through the connector for long-lasting, noise-free connectivity. An ultra-flexible TPE jacket gives mechanical isolation and makes the cable much easier to route behind equipment than stiff standard CAT6, which matters in the tight spaces behind a hi-fi rack. Being a standards-compliant CAT6 cable, it works with any network device, not only audio equipment.
The Performance Ethernet is available in 0.75m, 1.5m, 3.0m and 6.0m lengths.
What QED say about the Performance Ethernet
RJ45 CAT 6 ETHERNET DIGITAL AUDIO CABLE
QED Performance Ethernet adheres to the CAT 6 FTP specification giving it the bandwidth to accurately deliver high resolution audio - including 24/192 & DSD1024 - to a streamer over a wired network connection. It uses large cross-sectional area (24 AWG), 99.999% oxygen-free copper, twisted-pair conductors with asymmetric twist rates and a full HDPE spacer to reduce intra-pair skew alongside an ultra-flexible TPE jacket. This results in an increased bandwidth of 250 MHz giving it very low jitter when used for all digital audio streaming applications.
Features:
- Adheres to CAT 6 FTP Specification - ideal for Hi Res Audio streamers up to DSD1024
- Asymmetric twist rates and HDPE spacer - for reduced intra-pair skew and reduced cross-talk
- Ultra-flexible TPE jacket - for improved mechanical isolation
- Gold-plated 8/8 RJ45 plugs - shielded for long-lasting noise-free connectivity
