Please Note: Using the graph of supported weights below, if your equipment weight overlaps between 2 different supported spring types, we recommended opting for the stronger of the two for greater compatibility and effectiveness. For example, if your equipment weighs 12kg, then you should opt for spring type B.
The above video shows the effect Townshends Seismic Isolation offers in your system, however please note that speakers require the podiums found here. The Townshend Isolation Platforms are primarily used with amplifiers, cd players, streamers and other sources.

The Importance of Vibration Isolation
Vibrations affect the reproduction of sound through hi-fi systems. Although many of these are small and may go largely unnoticed, vibrations have a negative impact on the quality of sound in virtually all hi-fi components.
- Turntables are highly sensitive to vibration, which raises the noise floor, degrading the sound not to mention stylus jump due to footfall.
- With silver-disc players, vibration affects the laser mechanism and the crystal oscillators introducing severe sound-degrading jitter.
- With tube or valve amplifiers vibration rattles the microphonic electrodes, especially the grids.
- Transistor amplifiers have microphonic components, including capacitors and connecting wires which move relative to one and another generating rogue voltages. All of these mechanisms will degrade the delicate audio signal.
- Computers, streamers and DACs are highly susceptible to mechanical noise as they all contain vibration sensitive crystal oscillators.
Rigidly spike or cone mounted speakers transmit energy into the floor radiating vibration throughout the room and ultimately, through your rack and into your equipment. This seriously degrades performance as described above. Spike and cone mounted speakers cause the whole room structure to vibrate, often resulting in an unrealistic boomy bass whilst masking subtle detail. Further, this unwanted structural vibration can seriously irritate your neighbours.
The Seismic Isolation Platform includes a durable slim steel top plate that integrates unobtrusively under any hi-fi component. The acoustically dead constrained-layer damped plate combined with a Seismic Load Cell™ attached to each corner is the ultimate combination to absorb and isolate unwanted vibration, including structural, air-borne and that generated by the hi-fi equipment.
The secret is to fully float your whole Hi Fi System independently from the speakers and the floor. Townshend have devised a complete solution that to allow this to be done in an optimum way.
Seismic Load Cell™
The key component is the Townshend Seismic Load Cell™. The Seismic Load Cell™ consists of a high quality alloy steel compression spring surrounded by a flexible synthetic rubber jacket with two end plates. Screw threads in each plate facilitate height adjustment and provide attachment points. A movement-sensitive, air-resistance damper rapidly dissipates low frequency oscillation caused by disturbing the suspended equipment. Seismic Load Cells™ are very ‘soft’ and allow free movement in all three dimensions; up/down, left/right and back/forth. This unique solution blocks all deleterious vibration from 3Hz upwards and from all directions. As the frequency increases, the isolation gets progressively greater, ensuring that virtually no vibration can pass from and to the suspended equipment. As each hi-fi component is isolated, the sound progressively improves.
The singular Seismic Load Cell is available with seven different weight capacities, ranging progressively from 1kg up to 32kg. Virtually any weight of equipment can be isolated. The Seismic Isolation Platform is available in three standard sizes:

We use Royal Mail 1st Class services for our Standard Delivery.
Orders received before 4.30 pm Monday to Friday are usually dispatched the same day by FIRST CLASS post (unless premium postal or timed courier services are selected), subject to stock availability. The biggest upgrade was in the turntable; it's also the most delicate item in the system, as with most systems. The transformation was not subtle; it was more dramatic. Tighter, cleaner bass, clearer over the whole bandwidth. With a Goldring 1042 installed, even more clarity in mids to end. The same can be said on pre and ppa and the Quad.
The only crudity is the cost; once you get past this minor element of £, trust me when I say, they're very impressive. I also have their podiums; to sum those up.... Under my Naim system and Focal 948s, once you've got them in the right place and set up right, hifi bliss.
So there's my opinion, in a sentence: just do it; they're amazing.
I hope they continue making them after Max sadly passed away.
The result is immediate - I have reduced noise level (not fully gone yet) and a perceived enlarged separation of instruments/voices - Effectiveness 5*
Taking one star off as the assembly quality doesn't match the price - attachment of load cells on platforms isn't clean and slightly skewed. With no further impact other than cosmetic though I decided to keep as is.
