An honest word on hi-fi fuses
Fuses are the most contested product category we sell. A fuse is a safety device, its job is to fail, and the argument that the material and construction of a few millimetres of wire affects the sound of a system is one many people reject on principle. We understand why.
What we can tell you is what we hear and what our customers report. A number of listeners describe a lower noise floor and better resolution after changing a mains fuse, and repeat purchasing in this category is high. Others try one and hear nothing at all. We would not put a fuse near the top of an upgrade list ahead of cables, isolation or a decent mains block, and we will say so if you ask.
Two rules apply regardless of where you stand on the question. Never fit a higher rating than the equipment specifies, because the fuse is there to protect you and the equipment. And check the physical size, since 20mm and 32mm equipment fuses are not interchangeable. If you want to try one, start with a single fuse rather than changing several at once, so you can hear what each change does.

Synergistic Research Purple High-End Slow-Blow Fuse - Special Offer - Black November DealSKU: SR Purple Slow Blow
(7 reviews)From£112.46 £158.33Ex. VAT ✓ Save £45.88The brand new Purple Fuse is Synergistic Research's latest flagship fuse, surpassing the performance of the remarkable Orange fuses thanks to a new, three-stage conditioning process and a new premium graphene UEF compound to reduce the noise floor further than has ever been possible for Synergistic Research fuses. Slow-blow fuses are most commonly found in high-powered electrical equipment. They are more tolerant to high current passing through, meaning the fuse will withstand sudden high current flowing through the unit. Slow-blow fuses should be used where the equipment utilises large amounts of power, especially when switched on, like power amplifiers, integrated amplifiers or headphone amps. When installing your new fuse, please ensure you test the fuse in both directions as they are directional from left to right. When the fuse is inserted in the correct direction it will sound more detailed.
Please note: some configurations will be special-order.

£145.83Ex. VATIn a world with increasingly more expensive equipment, many seemingly minor components used are of a lower quality, e.g. fuses. By replacing off-the-shelf fuses supplied with most equipment, anyone can improve their system's signal path. This belief allowed Hi-Fi TUNiNG to create an effective range of fuses that can benefit everyone.
